What job would you do now, if you had the choice? (Light hearted)
The Israeli election, will Netanyahu stay in power?

Just under 1 month to go. At it isn’t looking good for Trump.
What is to do?
Well, for a start for the first time in decades he has refused international oversight of the elections.
And so it begins.
And even if Dems win, he won't give up control. I suspect that things will get dangerous.
I've been wondering about that, imaround.
Given your, to our British eyes, rather weird election system (based on the speed of a horse making a west to east coast USA journey with the results?) newly elected representatives won't be taking their seats until 20th January. Trump has plenty of time to organise an insurrection before then. After all, he so very nearly succeeded last time...
We have a top military man - British. Saying that Trump is a Putin agent.
I still can’t believe that someone can be POTUSandthere are no controls over what he can and can’t do? No one will ever trust America again.
I think the rules could well be changed post Trump to prevent a repeat MayBee70? I think it will be very difficult for the USA to gain back what he has thrown away in terms of respect from the rest of the world though.
Well, since starting this thread, the polls have tanked even further for Trump.
The worry now apparently is that if he looses both houses, he will be prevented from doing any further damage to domestic politics, but not the world, here it is thought that he will immediately restart the war in Iran after the mid terms. The sell-out of Ukraine is well underway.
Apparently Putin has proposed a summit next month between himself, Xi and Trump, where it is thought they will carve up the world into zones of influence. The U.K. I guess will be under Putin?
The future is not looking great.
Xi won’t play that game with two very weak leaders I don’t think Whitewavemark2. He’s less foolhardy than they are.
Your input -and other USA grans - is invaluable, imaround, don't worry about typos.

Xi won’t play that game with two very weak leaders I don’t think Whitewavemark2. He’s less foolhardy than they are.
Quite right.
Xi is playing his own long term game.
He won’t jump into bed with two deranged individuals.
He knows that those two could easily derail his plans for world domination.
Well WWM a key factor we'll be looking out for is (after a poor show) what major republicans do? More and more are bound to speak out totally fed up?
Re-Xi - I do take your point, but I suspect Taiwan is worrying, knowing that Trump will not lift a finger.
With regard to domestic issues, I would hope that at the very least the democrats will be looking to impeach, and certainly preventing Trump doing any more damage, but somehow I’m not holding my breath.
The other thing I think is that regardless who takes on the next presidency, the USA relationship with the U.K. and Europe more generally will never be the same. We would be wise to take Carney’s advice.
If Dems take control of both chambers of Congress, they can vote to reclaim their war powers and stop the war in Iran. whatever the hell that looks like now since I am sure there is no "turning off" the war and returning to our old normals.
They will also reclaim the "power of the purse", and stop his wild spending.
Do not expect impeachment though. Best case scenario we can expect, in my opinion only, is that they lame duck him and he remains powerless the next 2 years.
He needs to be removed and charged with treason, but I don't see that happening. Sadly. Because this type of crap fascism keeps rearing it's ugly head, every couple of generations it seems, and these people are allowed to fade into obscurity without consequences

Surely the Americans can’t be stupid enough to vote for him again now that they can see how much like Hitler he is and what a narcissist evil monster he has become
Many clearly don’t care. They truly believe Trump cares about them and will make their lives better.
But after 6 years in total in office, & really weighing with his executive powers to an extent no predecessor has done, & with favorable congresses all the time - what they have to judge him on is the track record surely?
Not core MAGA, they are fantasists & worse, but ordinary Americans.
& surely everyone who has a vote will rock up & use it this time?
Hit enter on accident.
We need to show people like this that their thought processes (racism, bigotry, et al) are not tolerated and they are not welcome in polite society. Ever again. Unless they go through reeducation.
Extreme? Yes. But this man has affected my entire life, from my relationship with my siblings, who I have cut off due to their continued unwavering support for this mad man, to my children whose lives have been affected by his policies, to my bank account that keeps telling me I can't afford to live this life, despite the fact that our income is plenty.
I have no room for anyone who is still making excuses for what is happening in the world because of Trump. especially for the people who put them there.
Will the Epstein files being released and publicised not lead to court action against him? He needs to be completely removed rather than just lame ducked. America will need major rehab of their international relationships.
I've never really understood the American political system. I did once sign up for a course called "The American Presidency" but it was as thought the tutor was speaking Swahili (my fault, not his). Can anyone recommend a good, clear book laying it all out so an English dingbat can understand it?
This is not a facetious post, by the way - I really would like to get a handle on it.
I do not believe we will be see the Epstein files. So no, I do not think he will ever be held accountable for that.
I agree that he needs to be removed, but I can't see that happening unfortunately.
There won't be enough votes to remove him in the Senate. We still have to work with the (hopefully) few Republicans that will be left on Congress.
This article has some really great info on the US Government. It is written for elementary school children, but please don't take offense of that. Government processes can be confusing and it works better to make it easier to understand.

There used to be a PBS cartoon we watched in the 80s that taught this all very well. I am going to see if I can sign them up on YouTube for you all the watch.
And,.of course, I would have the first clue how the government works in other countries, so I don't think it is unusual for people to be confused about ours. Especially since we have a madman at the helm.
Thanks for the info imaround. Much appreciated, as are all your updates.

I want to point this out to those who keep asking, validly by the way, why there aren't any guardrails.
It is because all of the ones built on have been corrupted the last 40 years by the Heritage Foundation.
Congress, the Supreme Court and the Media have all been bought out. Remember when I said I was happy the BBC wasn't backing down? Because our media, and our courts, and our Congress are all on on the grift. It is hard to keep corruption in check when the entire system has been infiltrated.
The real question should be, what the heck are we going to do going forward? I'm. It sure anyone knows the answer to that to be honest.

I found this.
Well his mother doesn’t tell porkies 😂
Phew. Pretty clear, there.
