I’m confused about the timelines. Did Harry invite Markle Snr. to the wedding when it was already known about him allegedly possessing child abuse images?

I remember quite vividly many comments defending the irrational idea that Meghan’s father was a victim of her estrangement, despite this waste of space selling his own daughter’s private communication to tabloids. The deep hatred of the young woman led many on Gransnet trying to paint him as some poor victim of a fame-chasing daughter who discarded him, as though some had lived with the man and knew their family dynamics better than she did.

It does not surprise me that Thomas Markle was charged with some of the worst crimes a human can be charged with because his low character has always been well-documented. If you can’t trust someone to not betray their own offspring, you can’t trust them around anyone else’s. Yes people on here saying Meghan was being a heartless prime donna for cutting contact with her father when her motive was protecting herself and her children. Family members can also be victims of those guilty of crimes such as this.

According to the BBC this “story” has been broken by her half-brother and some newspapers, a few days ago.

She (Meghan) claims she was made aware of this story back in 2018, by the police, but was assured that it would be fully investigated.

- because the police told her not to comment at the time. The Sun has now published an interview with her brother making the accusations so she had to issue a statement.

Looking at the BBC News, no, I don’t think so.

I don’t like the way Meghan and Harry have behaved to the RF but this revelation about her father does stack up and make sense of their attitude towards her father. Nothing is proved yet, of course but it doesn’t look good although one has to ask why nothing has been done for 8 years. We also don’t know why the son has raised this again now.

While I too tend to veer towards the 'guilty until proven innocent' has he actually been charged and convicted of anything? 8 years is a very long time if not. We must never forget not all such allegations are true, remember Carl Beech and his lies that impacted the likes of Leon Brittan who died before his name was cleared. Carl Beech was a paedophile himself and subsequently jailed, but had been championed by James O'Brien and others.

If all this was going on in the background when H&M were first married, one cannot help wondering why they did not make far more effort to integrate into the royal family, instead of slagging them off and causing ructions.

Not easy fitting in with the in laws for any of us, but when your own family is in disarray, makes sense to try and get on with the other lot.

It's only just being looked into. It is an accusation not proved. If Meghan knew it to be true why didn't she report him? In eight years how many children have been abused because people looked the other way to save their careers (wedding).. She thinks saying she knew excuses her behaviour when in fact it opens even more questions about that whole period. She was bought up by him. I am afraid the couple have lied so much I can’t believe anything they say. Very unsavoury. Hope she says she knew eight years ago, her children safe she says, what about the poor innocent victims?

It matters in as much as where serious crime is concerned I like stated facts to be correct and my post had nothing to do with ‘holding Meghan responsible’ which would be ridiculous.

Obviously more will now come to light.

What I find strange is that this is top of the news agenda today just as Prince William appears on the Graham Norton show. Just like Harry released his diatribe on GQ magazine just as the royals were entertaining the Sultan of Oman.

Why would the MET be investigating an American citizen living in the Philippines? If she’s known about this for eight years, WHY NOW? Could it be because she’s been told why don’t you reconcile with your own father?

Thomas Markle senior has denied the allegations. Some might say well he would wouldn’t he.

If he is guilty why hasn’t this surfaced before? Will he be prosecuted? Will the son give evidence under oath if push came to shove?

Much more to be revealed I suspect. Time will tell.

The matter is being investigated according to BBC news at lunch time.
