I see once again we are witnessing 'trial by media' and what fascinates me BlessedArt, is how you constantly accuse those on GN who criticise Meghan based in what we know she has said accusing us of hatred etc and yet here you are, assuming TM is guilty when it's the article in the Sun that's generating an investigation, the source for which is his son who has been paid for it and according to his sister, has only very recently stopped receiving financial support from his father.

You also appear to be suggesting that TM's children may have been abused in some way. With respect to Silvershadow to say this is presumptuous IMO is an under statement.

It’s not an article in the Sun which has prompted the investigation. It the evidence Junior allegedly found and handed to the police in the Philippines which prompted the investigation.

Junior then sold the story to The Sun, after he handed all the evidence across.

I’ve read his other daughter from his first marriage has said it’s all lies made up by the son to get money from the story. She says Thomas Markel has bank rolled the son all his life and now the money has run out he makes up this story.

Who knows? !!

It’s only the children that matter I hope it’s investigated properly

It’s beyond comprehension that some seek to find something to criticise Meghan for in this dreadful situation. Comments like she knew for eight years and did nothing - what on earth was she supposed to do?

MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday said it is investigating reports involving an octogenarian American national who left child abuse videos and photos in his home in Cebu province.

DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Ty told the Philippine News Agency that the department’s Anti-Trafficking and OSAEC (online sexual abuse and exploitation of children) task force “is currently investigating the matter" involving Thomas Markle Sr., after his son claimed he discovered stash of illicit materials in his home.

Thomas Sr., the 82-year-old estranged father of the United Kingdom’s Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, has flown to the United States for medical treatment.

International media reports quoting British newspaper The Sun said Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., discovered the illicit materials at their father’s home inside four large boxes.

Thomas Jr. allegedly found videos of girls no older than 10 or 11 years old engaged in sexual acts, as well as a 15-minute video of naked girls on his father’s old cellphone. He also claimed to have found three photos of naked girls.

People who have worked for the Sun, say he would have been paid for the story. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s untrue.

None of them seem very nice people, not Junior or Senior or the half sister. All of them have sold stories about their families to the press! What’s wrong with people.

I would report my father if I suspected him or found awful evidence but o would them go far far away until it was all over!

The sister seems particularly vile, she made all kinds of accusations about both her brother and Meghan, ranging from him stealing from a GoFundMe and his father’s bank account and Meghan paying him to set this up, to other bizarre allegations.

What an awful family!

I notice Meghan’s mother stays very much away from all this drama and keeps a low profile.

The scariest part about people who sexually exploit children is that you can never truly know how many victims they have. The extent often dies in the dark because most don’t want to relive and rehash their childhood abuse. Family members are the easiest victims to abuse due to access and trust. Thomas Markle’s other children aren’t exactly upstanding citizens for the most part. It makes me wonder what damage was done behind closed doors to lead them down the paths they chose. So far we know at least 2 of his children want nothing much to do with him. That’s too much of a coincidence for me. Even without these particularly revolting accusations, he wouldn’t be a father I’d want around me in adulthood. Certainly wouldn’t allow him access to my children if I were Meghan or the others.

You are assuming guilt. He hasn’t been investigated, arrested or charged yet. This is presumptuous. Let things take their course. It will be investigated as a result of worldwide publicity the Sun has generated.

This is what SKY News are reporting about the 2018 letter.

“The letter was sent to Meghan in the summer of 2018 after her wedding to Prince Harry in May that year.

It is understood the Metropolitan Police has not previously, nor is the force currently, investigating Mr Markle.

In addition, officers are conducting an internal inquiry to confirm if the 2018 letter was passed on by the royal protection unit.

Let’s be very clear (as clear as the muddied waters I helped muddy!), I thought the Sun interviewed Markle Junior, and it is he who broke both the story and reported his father to the police.

All Meghan has done is issue a statement today, in response to the Sun publishing the brother’s story last night?

On the BBC: the MET stated they have not, and aren’t currently, investigating Markle senior. They are looking into claims of a letter shared with Meghan, as per her statement.

Even if she knew about the accusations, what exactly was she supposed to do?
Investigate them herself? Hire private investigators? Seize his phone? Demand his phone records? Publicly announce what was happening in an investigation by authorities and taint it? Then the hateful people, much like those finding fault in her in this matter, would have said they are slandering the wretched man for publicity.

She is not responsible for him. There is zero evidence she had actual evidence of his accused crimes, even if she were personally aware of the accusations.

If the accusations are true, this poor example of a father was so arrogant to court attention knowing he was committing the worst crimes against innocent children. I don’t care if he allegedly only viewed indecent images. Every part of the predator cycle contributes to life-long damage child victims will face. Sex tourism in the Philippines is a well-known and widespread issue. I’m sure like most predators he didn’t think he’d get caught.
