Govt announces Ukrainian style scheme to bring thousands more migrants to UK

"Shabana Mahmood, the home secretary, will announce next week a Ukrainian-style sponsorship scheme for households and communities to bring thousands of refugees to the UK from conflict zones around the world.
Applications for the new safe and legal routes for refugees will open this autumn, The Times has been told.

The Home Office is understood to be planning to resettle more than 10,000 under the new community sponsorship scheme by the end of the decade, although the home secretary will not name a target.

So the figures will be around only £10.000

For how many years have we demanded safe and legal routes and only people who meet the criteria for refugees where people are assessed before they set out to travel

in order to counter irregular migration

I suggest its a good idea to have assessment in the country people are leaving not boat people turning up

and furthermore we wait for the official Government announcement and its details before starting yet another anti-incomer thread.

For example, they may be able to start work immediately under the scheme, we just don't know yet.

If this is to happen the government will need to have a huge number of extra GPs, medical centres and hospitals etc up and running before they are allowed to enter this country. If not the waiting lists to see someone medically qualified will quadruple!
