Hell Joan Where have you been hiding ?

jeni Mon 23-Jan-12 13:17:06

Heard this morning, the motorway will be opened when the accident has been cleared.
Should this not be ,when the results of the accident have been cleared?

Joan Fri 20-Jan-12 10:23:27

Where? where? where?

An interesting suggestion Tosh. I'm tempted to trawl through a few threads in an attempt to track the meanders. Or maybe not - it could take days! Welcome to Rangimarie. Perhaps we should put you on to that as an initiation test!!

The risk of contracting pancreatic cancer if you eat a sausage or other cured meat containing nitrates every day is what the original post was about, I believe. Naturally, the media was not pedantic enough (or scientific enough, or numerate enough) to also point out that the risk is very low, so even a nineteen per cent increase in that risk still leaves you with, guess what, a very low risk! In short, don't worry about it!

Tosh Thu 19-Jan-12 09:32:56

I think it would be a fun to go to the 'last post' (back to death again) and try to guess what the original 'discussion topic' was about !
could be interesting !!! grin

Please stop any references to Edwina Curry & John Major involved in "beastliness" (Mr Phoenixs' favourite word for it, borrowed from an old Harry Enfield sketch) These references are bringing forth mental images that I could do without!

Rangimarie Wed 18-Jan-12 23:36:43

Yes, I do, people are really witty. Makes for interesting reading! Thank yousmile

Ariadne Wed 18-Jan-12 15:27:59

rangimarie I knew you'd enjoy this! smile

absentgrana Wed 18-Jan-12 13:39:45

Not at my age Greatnan grin

Greatnan Wed 18-Jan-12 13:36:00

Private Eye has some great Colemanballs , but they have changed the name as he is long retired. Some involve 'literally' -as in 'Rooney has literally lost his head'.
Can you be a bit pregnant?

Annobel Wed 18-Jan-12 12:04:44

Rangimarie wink

Rangimarie Wed 18-Jan-12 11:18:21

Not sure if kittylester and Annobel were writing tongue-in-cheek, however, 'unique' = existing as the only one or as the sole example. I have heard media people quantifying the word unique.

Rangimarie Wed 18-Jan-12 11:14:29

This is the first time I have been here, I am laughing so much I have tears in my eyes - just brilliant!

Annobel Sat 14-Jan-12 15:03:25

Or even uniquely unique?

kittylester Sat 14-Jan-12 14:51:42

Is fairly unique not quite as unique as extremely unique? confused

jingl Sat 14-Jan-12 14:37:32

Matron will show up soon, and give you all a good talking to.

jingl Sat 14-Jan-12 14:36:44

This web forum is going rapidly down the drain. Sex, sex, and more sex!!! hmm

supernana Sat 14-Jan-12 14:03:55

jeni Well now, that would be telling...grin

jeni Sat 14-Jan-12 13:47:14

spernan edgeways? Is this a variation on the missionary? And does it work with replacement hips?

supernana Sat 14-Jan-12 13:37:09

As hard as I try, I cannot imagine Edwina and Major in the throws of unbridled passion. Surely Edwina wouldn't allow him get a word [or anything else] in edgeways...wink

Zephrine Sat 14-Jan-12 13:06:55

I have a dead leg sometimes, would that count as slightly dead?

Annobel Sat 14-Jan-12 12:44:12

absent grin

absentgrana Sat 14-Jan-12 12:27:24

I should think that being slightly dead would be fairly unique.

Annobel Fri 13-Jan-12 22:30:28

Did someone call Edwina a lady? In your dreams!
