... which I completely get by the way. "I feel so much better since I lowered by standards".

But bags it doesn't! You have posted in the past about its autocorrect thingamajig and how you couldn't be arsed to keep correcting it!

All our machines (Apple) know we use British English because we've told them in "Settings" that the language we use is English and the region we use it in is Europe.

Besides, my iPad wouldn't dare criticise my spelling, nor make 'helpful' suggestions. It obeys my commands. It's a machine.

Colour, mine accepts,Color it doesn't. It says it's Colorado!

hmm ... I thought my computer was set to UK. Me too, bellasnana plus I'm forever substituting an "s" for a "z". Trouble is, when you're getting on (like me) you start doubting yerself. So annoying.

Yes, American, which means that from now on all children here will be accepting the American spellings as the correct version.

They don't have wellies in the USA, just see what happens when you type that in...

Ive just tried those words on here and the English version is accepted - the US version gets underlined. I think it depends how your computer is set up. You can usually set your computer to use UK English rather than US English.

I believe it is US spelling. I override it, personally, also refuse to spell colour, favourite, etc without a 'u' to which the keypad also objects grin

When I type (or should I say keyboard) information into the Gransnet box for posting a message, it "complains" by underlining for incorrect spelling whenever I use a double "L" e.g. for words like swivelling, spiralling, tunnelling etc. Am I going mad or did that used to be correct? As soon as I delete one "L" the sodding machine is happy again.
