Egnore -now there's a pronunciation that is really starting to annoy me. Am I the only person who cringes every time I hear it (many times a day)?

Where do you live, Mama? I have not heard it for years. I am originally from Liverpool and everyone said it there. I was probably guilty myself smile. I don't thinnk I say it now though, but you have me thinking!

I hear it on tv all the time (DH has it on most of the time!), used by everyone from actors to news presenters and reporters. I hear 'ignore' so rarely now that I inwardly cheer if someone says it!

The pronunciation that really annoys me if Alexander Armstrong on Pointless, who is apparently unable to say geography.
It always comes out as joggraffy!

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say 'egnore' - how odd! Nearly everyone on tv says 'pleece' and 'fith'. As for 'sixth', it comes out as 'sickth'...

Haven't heard egnore,( I can imagine it in a Liverpool accent though.)
Ana I will be listening out for those words now ( the 'pleece' is said on every tv programme about 'the pleece' practically) unless set in Scotland when it is 'po-lis'.
