Egnore

Haven't heard egnore,( I can imagine it in a Liverpool accent though.)
Ana I will be listening out for those words now ( the 'pleece' is said on every tv programme about 'the pleece' practically) unless set in Scotland when it is 'po-lis'.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say 'egnore' - how odd! Nearly everyone on tv says 'pleece' and 'fith'. As for 'sixth', it comes out as 'sickth'...

The pronunciation that really annoys me if Alexander Armstrong on Pointless, who is apparently unable to say geography.
It always comes out as joggraffy!

I hear it on tv all the time (DH has it on most of the time!), used by everyone from actors to news presenters and reporters. I hear 'ignore' so rarely now that I inwardly cheer if someone says it!

Where do you live, Mama? I have not heard it for years. I am originally from Liverpool and everyone said it there. I was probably guilty myself . I don't thinnk I say it now though, but you have me thinking!
