A new one that I’ve come across several times on social media is the use of Are instead of Our. ‘Are friend went there’ or even ‘Are Father, who art in heaven’

There's a classic Malapropism about a court case in Ireland, the only evidence I have though, is on Twitter from someone who claims to have been in court.

A District Judge saw a defendant chewing gum in court, he directed a court officer to: “Tell that man to stop masticating”. Court officer approaches the defendant and says: “The judge says you have to take your hands out of your pockets.”

I'm missing something, what is gadarene swine?

The Gadarene Swine featured in a Bible story and were pigs into which Jesus cast the demons that had possessed a madman and which as a result ran down a steep cliff into the sea and were killed; They were called Gadarene swine or pigs because they belonged to the inhabitants of the town of Gadara.
So it means involved or engaged in a headlong or potentially disastrous rush to do something.

4-year-old on his first visit to London discovered Pickled Lily circus. That was also his name for my MiL's home-made piccalilli which, for all I knew, might have been accurate.

I don't know if it's just a Northern thing but people always say should of or could of instead of should have or could have. "come up pants" lol best I've heard.

I heard, "Our Father, in charge in Heaven..." in assembly at my children's primary school. ?

My headmaster father heard a child in the front row of his assembly clearly shouting with gusto “and lead us not into Temple Meads Station but deliver us from evil. Amen” at the end of the the Lord’s Prayer. We lived in Bristol.

Apparently the origin of the saying

My DH used to think Directory Enquiries was called Director of Enquiries. To be honest I think it sounds far nicer.
