It does drive me nuts when people say lock for loch.
If they can't say the 'ch' sound, why not use a 'h' - so law+h - rather than a loudly articulated 'ck'?

Far North. I agree with this one. I live near Lough Erne and really irritates me when pronounced 'lock'.

I’m going “ter” stay at home instead I’m going “to” stay at home. Boris first brought this mispronunciation to my attention during his briefings and I’ve since noticed others saying it ?

When my OH was a little lad, his mother would look critically at his hair and he was certain for years that she would tell him his parting was as "straight as a donkey's iron leg."

My dad could never pronounce "surpassed". It always came out as surprassed and became a sort of family joke. To this day, I have to think twice before I utter the word in public .

I haven't RTFT, but how about 'loth' and 'loathe'?

As in 'She was loth to hang out the washing in the rain' vs 'She loathed him with a passion'.

My pet hates are haitch instead of aitch and garridge instead of garage.

Weight is W+eight so how on earth are people pronouncing eight?

I do have one or two friends from different places who pronounce these words with more of an i sound- Arv reelly pud on wight since lockdown is what it sounds like on our WhatsApp calls.

This is how language evolves ...isn’t it! By mis-pronunciation or mis spellings. If any of you read Chaucer in the ‘raw’ most of it is unreadable .... but he wrote in English!! The english of his day. He would not recognise our language and think he’s in a foreign land. Do you call it a phone or telephone .... bus or omnibus..... tele or television.... car or automobile..... it’s always been this way hasn't it? Or Chaucer would be able to understand us .... instead of thinking where he’d landed!

Candidit instead of candidate, bin instead of been. Would of/could of/should of/ instead of would have/could have/should have.
