Today, when I was amending my online shopping order with Asda, quite a few items already in my basket were no longer available, and I was invited to choose "alternate" items.

I immediately thought of you all. Do you think I should point out this error to them? grin

Yes. "Alternately", you could amend every other one?

And when you check out, don't forget to enter your card's expiration date!

Defiantly.

I thought this was going to be about their substitutions as they substituted our vegetarian pizza for a meat feast! grin

By all means point out their mistake, especially if you enjoy practising the art of futility.

They are highly unlikely to take any notice of the fact that alternate and alternative are not synonyms, but you might just succeed in getting them to consult a dictionary.

and you might get a voucher smile

They will probably claim to be disinterested when they should (not) be uninterested.

Sure, they’re not being pressurised into giving you alternate items?
