‘Journaling’ - just seen in a Boots online advertisement..

What happened to ‘keeping a journal’? Too many syllables to cope with, I suppose - 5 instead of 3.
I dare say it sounds more fashionable, too - at all the sort of boring thing old people did in their incredibly un-cool youths.

My recent pet hate is "burglarising" heard on TV show.

Diarising is when you write an appointment in the diary, does my nut in.

Think we already have diarising (is there a difference.) Impacting is another annoyance.
I’m inclined to blame newspapers - but then we’re told that nobody ever reads them 😆

Oh no, don't mention "impacting", I still really hate this, it sets me off on one.

I loathe it, too. It always makes me think of bowels or wisdom teeth! It means to pack down tightly...

But I think its developed because people cant tell the difference between 'effect' and 'affect'. It's easier/safer to go for 'impact'.

You can't trust the newspapers' grip of language. We were laughing yesterday at the Mirror's description of the new Murder in Paradise episode where the chief was 'assassinated' but the Islanders were worried he wouldn't survive!

I bought my youngest dd (31) a leather bound journal for Christmas & she absolutely loves it. Said it makes her feel like a victorian lady when she writes in it!
