What was your babies first words

Both my children had the same first words, though perhaps in a different order - light, and (ba)nana.

It is in pedants’ corner because of a missing apostrophe and because it is grammatically incorrect: a singular verb with a plural subject.
My eldest child’s first words were Dada, doggy, though we didn’t have one, and Obidah= Banana!

Don’t understand is this meant to be in pendants !!

We are often told on Pedants' Corner that spelling and grammar mistakes don't matter as long as the meaning is clear. I've always found that a weak argument.

I get the real point of the posting but just to say that DD2s first words were DuppDee....still says it now.

I remember my son's first sentence. He had been feeling unwell, so I brought him into bed with me. My bedroom faced east and I was woken by him banging me on the head and saying, 'Mummy, look, it's the sun!'. as the sun was coming up. He was just a year old then.

One of them ( the eldest) was the word ‘no’. Nothing’s changed there!

I think Witzend was telling us what she'd seen elsewhere - not asking us!
That's probably why it's in Pedants’ Corner!

As it’s a pedant question, are you asking about all our babies?
Or just the words of one baby (baby’s)

Well, his first whole sentence as I struggled one evening with his Terry nappy (remember them?) was "What's the matter with that bloody pin?" I did take more care with my language after that.
