'Draws'!

Lots of people on FB are 'defiantly' going on holiday you know: Classic I saw during Covid was a notice asking visitors to 'satanise' their hands!!

On my local Nextdoor there was a clinger and baby shitter looking for a job. I was unaware that a baby needed help.

I agree about the plural thing Witzend I see it much more frequently now, so irritating.
Another frequent flyer is 'diffuse' and 'defuse' two different things.

I read a lot and another increasingly common irritant is description of old and doddery people in their sixties. All the sixty year olds I know are fit and active and of course still working due to the movement of pension age.

Digressing, but on our local Facebook page, a message from our GP’s Medical Group, saying they have computer issues, no access to patients records, but asking us to ‘bare with them’.

I suppose the ‘bare’ is relevant though, in the great scheme of things, seeing as it’s medical!

One of my favourites is the ad. for a house for sale which has a large garden with several 'flowering boarders'. Male or female not specified.

Don't forget the adverts for 4 birth caravans.

Unfortunately, my town Facebook group is called "R****h Resident's". I had to really grit my teeth when I joined it and every time it pops up with a post, I wince.

Our local one is the same. I actually messaged them pointing out the mistake and asking for them to change it - but that was several years ago and it's still the same.

And then we have all the patriots talking about "Are country" where did "are" come from? It seems to be quite recent,

I think I've mentioned on here before, but apart from seeing the infamous 'chester draws' advertised for sale on the likes of Facebook Marketplace, the best one I saw was someone who was looking for a 'long more'.

Why do people call drawers 'draws'! Drives me nuts (among many other things)

As in”Winter draws on…” being banned by the BBC.

One thing I notice more and more, is the apparent inability to make the plural of a word ending in ‘y’. So I keep seeing baby’s, family’s, party’s, and just the other day on MN, university’s!

Do schools not teach this any more? It’s not as if it’s very difficult. Or do some teachers think it doesn’t matter?

And while I’m on plurals, I also keep seeing box’s,
bus’s, even Christmas’s.

And don't get me started on the (increasing) number of people who do not know the correct use of the words 'lose' or 'loose' within the structure of a sentence.

Lose - cannot find. Therefore lost.
Loose - not tight.
