Hello JazzyGrl and welcome. I'm not a prolific poster on here so still getting to know lots of other members. I've got rellies in America, whose parents emigrated from my home town in Derbyshire and as well as sharing the same ancestors we have even met in the UK and remain in touch. Plus I have two very good friends here whose children all emigrated across the pond.

You'll find a wide variety of folks on here and lots to keep you interested and even amused.

It's very sad that you are in such poor health but you'll find others on here in similar circumstances who try to remain as cheerful as they can. For myself I have a disabled/housebound husband of 54 years and finding it all very difficult, but fortunately I'm currently pretty well.

Have fun and get some light relief for yourself.

Where do you live in America JazzyGirl?My aunt spent all her working life in San Francisco as a nanny. She loved the climate and the people she worked for.
I am sorry you have a lot of pain but I would like to join with others in welcoming you to Gransnet. I am sure others will message you tomorrow but it is getting late here (gone 11pm) and some of us have been watching the final of the WorldCup so will soon be off to bed. I,also, like crafts.Knitting and crochet being my main interests but I am left handed and everything is geared to right handers!!!

Like you I often now feel I need to apologise for my country but all we can do is make sure we don’t go down the same rabbit hole ourselves we can’t be blamed for what our country does
It must be very frustrating spending so much time on your own and in bed I get so bored so easily I find a day in difficult so I take my hat off to you for managing to stay upbeat

I got locked out this morning and had a panic 😱 but managed to solve the problem (no idea how) but yes GN is a daily need for me now even if I disagree with half of what is said 🤣

I’ve been locked out of gransnet too recently, both on my iPad and my computer. No idea how it happened. I managed to get back on using Google chrome as my browser on my iPad ( as a complete technophobe no idea how I managed to do it). Was temporarily locked out of another forum, too, but everyone was having problems at the time. Being stuck at home most of the time I really depend on the internet; when it goes wrong my world implodes!

What a fascinating life!

We lived in California for a year, back in 1974! I was a sophomore at Palos Verdes High school.

I have a cousin still living in California, in Huntingdon beach and friends in New England.

I too was lucky enough to travel to Hawaii.

I hope you find some interests and new “friends” here
