Have just 'adopted' 2 2year old cats! They had a bit of a look about, eaten a bit and now have taken refuge behind sofa/setee ! If I pull sofa out, one will come up to me and rub himself all over me, and has been up on my lap, the other is reserving judgement! I only got them yesterday and, as yet have not used litter box, don't appear
to have gone elsewhere ( its a tiny house ) Should I just leave them be or be more proactive?
They are brothers btw.

Good idea about the savings account. We have 4 cats, and the cost of good insurance is huge.

Re drinking water, I believe many cats like their water bowl well away from their food, for some reason. We now have a water bowl separate, and another outside, as they like drinking rain water.

Hope you've found them now!

Yes, under spare room bed !. I have never come across such silent cats!!

One is very affectionate, other one ☹️!

They are absolutely adorable grannylyn. I found brushing/grooming helped to create a bond. My cat was a bit standoffish at first but was soon following me everywhere...couldn't even go to the bathroom without him following me. They are very lucky wee cats. x

When I had kittens (not literally) I got them used to the litter tray by holding their little front paws and making a digging motion in the litter with them. They got the hang of it right away!

Settling in very well but only when its just us, when family visited took refuge behind sofa!
Using litter tray and staring longingly at the little birdies outside!!

grannylyn65 Sun 31-Jul-16 19:13:20

I wish I was outside!!

They are lovely boys! Do they do that sort of "clicking" thing when looking at the birds?

grannylyn65 Sun 31-Jul-16 19:37:37

They are very silent and seem to materialise out of nowhere!!

I think they're beautiful. Such handsome cats.

Those cats have really settled into their new home- they are beautiful. Good luck to you once they start bringing home lunch and evening meals- that is the one thing I do not like and I am so pleased that Tara has now decided she is happy with the food that I provide.

We got out cat when I was sharing a flat in bedsit land in what is now the very posh area of Crouch End.
We had mice in our flat so the landlord allowd us to get a lovely ginger kitten.
For about a week he hid at the back of the settee or if he was scared ran up the curtains or the wallpaper. He eventually settled in and became a lovely gentle friendly cat.
The frieds in the flat moved away and I had to move. I was left to find a home for the cat and happened upon a colleague who lived in a bedsit house which already had a cat. He took the cat. I had visiting rights and in the end "reader I married him." (not the cat)

Has anyone seen the pic of Palmerston, the new black cat belonging to the Foreign Office? He was a rescue cat, and is a very handsome boy.

Swanny Mon 01-Aug-16 09:44:54

Ahhh what a lovely story nelliemoser smile

He is gorgeous roses. Gladstone lives in that neck of the woods too. Not sure who he belongs to.

rosesarered Mon 01-Aug-16 16:28:14

Gladstone lives at number 11 and Larry at number 10 and the two of them have spats, politics eh?

Charleygirl Mon 01-Aug-16 16:31:52

I cannot remember which is which but the black and white fellow is a larger, fatter version of Tara. She in her heyday would have seen off every mouse at both addresses.

grannylyn65 Mon 01-Aug-16 16:54:39

Who's hicatting my topic !!!?

rosesarered Mon 01-Aug-16 17:01:45
