I am to have a puppy. All arranged by younger daughter , son in law and son in law who isn't ? Please be happy for Lottie and for me, we are lonely and the home needs joy .

And my physiotherapist agrees

Happy days with your new puppy Anniebach.long time since I had a dog, had two cats up until 2 yrs ago...

luckyrose62 Tue 12-Dec-17 15:11:59

Such fun ahead . We have a shih tzu. 18 months old. We got him from a breeder on champdogs and checked everything was true saw the pup at 4 weeks and picked him up at 8. I have no regrets. He is so easy going loves children and other dogs. Wants to be with us all the time which is the only downside.

How exciting to be welcoming a new puppy! If you want a Scottish name, there's always Brodie. Or Whisky. grin

Thank you GrauntyHelen, they do bring so much don't they ?

Bez, Milly is on my list of names , your Milly will have a cold tummy ?

Bez1989 Tue 12-Dec-17 13:38:51

Our Westie girl is Millie Moo.
She found a non-snow area to pee on then has a wander around in the snow up to her tummy. So funny.

I’m in the process of trying to get a rescue dog from a Rescue Centre in Grand Canaria. It’s a reputable centre run by English people and the little dog I’m after was dumped at the pound so neglected and with overgrown fur that one eye has had to be removed. He’s about 2 and a scraggy little thing that could be a Shih Tzu cross. I’m so hoping I can get him and offer him his ‘forever home’ and make up for the way humans have treated him in the past.

All the best with your new pup Anniebach. I've never been a dog owner DH always had working dogs and missed them after coming to stay with me so as a solution we became hosts for Barking Mad a home boarding company. We've had a dozen doggie guests on their hols with us in six months and I have loved what they have brought to our lives I enjoyed them perhaps even more than DH

Wonderful, annie and not long to wait.

I’m another dog lover who is dogless at the moment, one day when we stand still for a bit I’d love to share our home with one again. If we had a daughter we were planning to call her Bethan, - Bethy if shortened.

Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing about your life with a puppy. Fun and hard work in equal measure but oh so worth it.

Oh Annie I'm so pleased for you, your new pup will really bring some much needed sunshine and happiness into your life. It really is impossible to feel down for long when you have a little furry bundle of fun running around, tripping you up, getting into scrapes. Lucky you! And you deserve some luck smile
(You could call her Meggy, short for Meghan - very topical tcrwink)

How lovely for you. I envy you. We have decided not to have any more dogs. I am busy and out a lot which would not be fair to a dog or dogs. My husband loves the fact that it is just 'us' now. It is lovely but I would have more dogs 'in a heartbeat'. However it has to be a joint decision. I know, if I insisted, my husband would let me have anything I wanted, finances permitting. But he means everything to me and he doesn't really want more dogs, so I can't do that to him. I really , really envy you. Enjoy every moment.

merlotgran Mon 11-Dec-17 22:53:26

she got her name from how often he called her that Effin dog

That reminds me of Jilly Cooper writing years ago that they had a kitten called Ceremony. Whenever guests arrived her husband would greet them with, 'Do come in, make yourselves at home and don't stand on Ceremony!' grin

I will bore you .overthehill, after my daughters ny greatest love is dogs , I love them around my feet and following me around the house and chats at nights , adore Lottie but she cannot stay awake for a chat, probably bore the little darling to sleep. In my previous house a darling man lived next door to me, he found my talking to the dogs amusing, even doing jobs in the garden I say - time for a cuppa, even tell them who is on the phone , explains Lottie's love of sleep ?

Nanna58 Mon 11-Dec-17 22:33:22

Great news Anniebach , a dog really is balm for the soul, you will make a great team x

You won’t forget to give us regular updates will you Annie? My DMiL had a ginger cat called Violet - till she realised her mistake! Then he became Violent and that suited him much better. As he got older he became Violet again! He was quite a character, if a little confused!
Your little dog will bring you so much happiness.

NannyTee Mon 11-Dec-17 18:14:05

Ahh Anniebach just what you need right now. Enjoy your little bundle of fluff. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Xx

1974cookie Mon 11-Dec-17 18:09:31

Wonderful news Annie. Nothing like a bundle of fur in the home to make the world feel right again. ???

Anniebach Mon 11-Dec-17 18:08:26

So a girl named Derek and a boy named Doris, I love this thread , so much love of animals, so much kindness to me and two posters who seem to have pets with a little confusion as to their sexuality , brilliant grin

Morgana Mon 11-Dec-17 17:58:25

Great news Annie. Enjoy!

CrazyDaisy Mon 11-Dec-17 17:46:29

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 11-Dec-17 17:29:54

Annie I went to the kennels one day and Effie was outside on the window ledge of an upstairs window. She'd been shut in the room while some job was being done and climbed out of a tiny lintel window. Little madam did not like getting left out! tchshock tchgrin
