We have just adopted a female kitten, she’s had a rough start to life, to cut a long story short my daughter is a vet nurse and the kitten was left at the practice last Friday in a bad state. About 5 weeks in weaned, very under weight and with a bad injury to her jaw.

We have taken her in, and she is now gaining weight, eating well, almost weaned and playing/sleeping well.

The only problem is her name, we just can’t agree. We won’t something fun, but not silly, any ideas ?

This is Thomas. His stripes are symmetrical which means he is well bred?.

Here is Rana. 5 months old and named after a very loyal school friend x

She's very sweet (and I am not a cat person)

Bonnie is a lovely name and I hope she grows to be very bonny indeed.

She is beautiful, Nanagem, and the name Bonnie suits her so well.

Kircubbin, we have always been advised to keep all rehomed cats (of which we’ve had many) in for six weeks. It’s a bit of a struggle but the time soon passes.
The benefits far outweigh the disbenefits. ?

FC ... good name suggestion. It made me go looking on YouTube for a clip of Ram Jam ... and I found one from 1977. I remember dancing to that when we were young ... ‘Bam a lam...’ ?

Bonnie then x

Please don't call her Meghan/Megan!! She has had enough bad luck in her life already. I think the mythology lady has the right idea.

Betty. I've always wanted a little black cat called Betty.
I like your suggestions phoenix.
My main coon Rosie's official name is Florence Rose.
Which, coincidentally, is David Cameron's younger daughter's name.

Thank you so much for all your ideas, a friend called in yesterday and said “ oh what a bonnie wee thing “ and that’s was it - Bonnie !

So we have had her 2 weeks now, she’s doubled her weight, still low for her age but ok. Stitches in her mouth out and healing well, eating well, weaned but soft food only whilst her mouth still heals.

... and congratulations kirc on adopting Thomas. Please can we see a photo??

Sparklefizz Wed 23-Sep-20 19:12:28

kircubbin2000 He should stay in for at least a month in order to settle in, and until he has been neutered and had his vaccinations.

My new cat came on Friday. He's so friendly I'm glad I didn't get the shy one from the shelter. The girl who rescued him called him Thomas and I quite like that. My only problem is as he was a stray he is dying to go outside. How long should he stay in?

I second Sox! Though our last cat, who died 9 years ago, looked similar to your lovely kitten . We called her Effie.

Doris!

Hope might suit her. It seems she didn't have much of that to start with but now she has. Enjoy her.

If she has any white chest hairs what about Vicar. Who could resist her she looks a sweetheart.

I would definitely get grandchildren to name any new pet.

Dilemma Wed 23-Sep-20 16:52:40

Megan, so she can be Meggie the moggie!

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 23-Sep-20 16:52:04

Sparkle. Sparks for short. Just look at those eyes!

Ashcombe Wed 23-Sep-20 16:50:22

What a sweetie! She would melt hearts. How about Lulu or Yoyo? DH has had many cats and advises that short names work better, preferably with one vowel sound. Good luck!
