When I was a teenager my cat used to share a packet of cheese and onion crisps with me, she was also partial to licking the chocolate of a biscuit.

I had little black cat just after we were married (a present from DH)
When DH was at home he would perch like a parrot on his shoulder.

Friday night (pre children) was curry on our laps night.
Our little cat would meow loudly for lick of the curry from DHs finger.

He would then whizz around the room like something demented and then return for another lick?

I had a cat who liked Wotsits (we used to have to give her a couple if we were eating them)

Another cat once came home with a sausage from someone's BBQ, in her mouth

One of our dogs used to go mad for bananas. As soon as you unpeeled it he was there nudging you for a share.
Urmston gran, you are thinking of Dave Allen.

We had a cat who liked Heinz tomato soup and always had an orange stain on her white neck.
Our golden retrievers eat/steal anything edible. Over the years we have visited the vet several times to be made sick after eating grapes or a pile of garden bin bags made from corn starch!

As a teenager, I had a collie cross that loved bilberries.
She loved to join me if I went bilberty picking (I love bilberty pie), and would daintily pick the tiny berries off the bushes with her teeth and eat them.
If only I could have trained her to collect them for me instead of eating them herself grin

We used to have 2 cocker spaniels years ago & at the time our eldest daughter smoked. I said not in the house because at 19y I thought it would encourage her to light up more often.

Anyway she used to put on a jacket and puff away at the back door.

One evening one of the dogs picked up a cigarette butt and trotted into the house with it dangling from her lips. We all burst out laughing as she looked so funny! Made me think of that comedian (can’t remember his name, can anyone help?) who always had an unlit fag between his lips.

Dave Allen ?

Great to have you back with us Phoenix??

Possibly, grannyrebel7, very possibly!

One of our Labs loved monkey nuts. Carefully shelled them in his mouth to to reveal the nuts. Same dog always welcomed any new rescue kittens to snuggle into him for comfort whenever they joined us.

Whenever one of the horses lay down, many lambs enjoyed a snuggle wherever they found a space between a horses legs.

Lovely memories.

Our Border terrier would eat any old dirty thing that he picked up off the floor, but he wouldn't touch pork, ham or anything from a pig either. Jewish Border terrier?

Thank you, Marydoll I suppose some of my threads just have "weird" written all over them blush

That's reminded me, merlot my mother's Labdrador would follow us when we took the netting off the raspberries for picking, and follow behind helping herself!

She never seemed bothered by any prickles, perhaps she had it down to a fine art.

My cat likes cheese and she always gets some if its part of my lunch. She’s meowing all over the place if she can smell something I’m eating that she fancies . When she first arrived she got a small cat treat every time I came in now she wont stop until she gets one . She expects it from the cat sitter if we go away too ( that hasn’t happened much lately!)

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 18:47:05

Phoenix, I just knew it was you, who started this thread!
Glad to see you back. grin

Our current cats like cheese, but we had one some years ago who went mad for melon and frozen peas!

Ginger was our Siamese cats love. Biscuits and cake. I once found a cooling ginger cake with claw marks and big chunks taken out of it.

merlotgran Thu 15-Oct-20 18:38:36

We had a golden retriever who would wriggle commando style under bird netting and eat all the strawberries.

Greyduster Thu 15-Oct-20 18:34:06

The first cat we had adored fruit cake. I didn’t find out until I made one and left it to cool on the side; after all, cats don’t eat cake, do they? I came in to find her busily chewing off one corner and gobbling it down, fruit and all! Thereafter, she was always allowed a small piece and would almost take it out of your mouth if it wasn’t offered!

My cat loves cheese and cheesecake and will take it off my plate if I'm not looking but she does think all my meals are for sharing!

phoenix Thu 15-Oct-20 18:27:27

That's odd, GrannyGravy, for a herbivore!

When I had a small flock of sheep, my parka ended up with no buttons, as the cheeky girls knew I had mints in my pocket, and if I wasn't quick enough, they would go for the buttons!

My favourite ewe had a penchant for Fishermens Friends of Victory V lozenges, daft thing!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Oct-20 18:18:29

One of our horses would do anything for a chicken nugget from that famous burger chain with the Golden Arches ??

phoenix Thu 15-Oct-20 18:15:05

Evening all, and good wishes.

Of course, I can't be sure that the dog was actually Jewish, but he did refuse any pork products, including sausages and bacon!

I have also had a cat with a cheese additicion, Mr P and I had to refer to it as "solid dairy product" because if we said the word "cheese" even in conversation, Maurice would then stand in front of the fridge and do his hard stare until he was given some! He'd have your fingers for a bit of Stilton, which was a particular favourite.

Any other weird let likes/dislikes?
