Best food for poorly Jack Russell

Most dogs (and cats) seem to love the smell of fish. They use their sence of smell so much more than we do. Just open a tin of tuna and they come running.
I'm not an expert though - we only had pets when we were in France.
We always fed the dogs raw meat and chicken, and meat bones. Fish as a treat.
I don't even know what Chappie is!

Vets have always advised a diet of fish and rice when our dogs were not well.

I know DD fed one of her dogs on boiled pasta sometimes as the dog used to go off her food when she was older and not well.
I think she may have added a little chicken to it; the dog seemed to enjoy pasta more than rice.

Fish and rice.
Chappie.
Scrambled egg.
Chicken and rice if your dog can tolerate chicken, many dogs can’t like mine.
Get your vet to hurry up with the blood tests.
Has your vet recommended a scan.
How good is your vet. 2 weeks is a long time for dog to be sick, particularly a young dog.

Will she eat if you give her more of whatever she is willing to take after an interval of fifteen minutes?

The main thing is to make sure she gets enough water.

Once when we had a very ill cat, a vet told me to give it the saline and sugar mixture used for dehydrated babies. Perhaps you should check with your vet if that would be a good idea for the dog, but promise me not to try it unless the vet says it is okay.

Friends of ours had black labs who had “dodgy tums” Their vet recommended feeding them Chappie. The dogs had the most beautiful shiny black coats...the picture of health. Our dogs turned their noses up at Chappie ☹️

Our boy loved poached chicken and rice, fish occasionally. Little and often seems to work best when they are ill. Hope he recovers soon loopylou

I use Maw's recipe, often with white fish rather than chicken as so many dogs seem allergic to chicken.

My wonderful rescue arrived with terrible gastric problems. My equally wonderful vet said keep him on tinned chappie and nothing else, till he's been with you six months or so. He'll have settled in by then, said wonder vet, and you can maybe introduce other foods carefully then

At our local dog rescue they like to give the elderly dogs Chappie.

The lady at the kennels we used to use always recommended Chappie, and it worked wonders for our granddog’s dodgy digestion.

At least she is eating a little.
I boil up chicken pieces in my pressure cooker, then boil white rice in the stock produced until it has all been absorbed.
Then I shred the chicken and mix it in with the sloppy chickeny rice.
I would have said she sounds as if she is running a temperature so the sloppy consistency of my canine chicken soup (Jewish penicillin) will help with fluids.
Has the vet prescribed canine paracetamol or Metacam (anti inflammatory) to bring the temp down? ( On no account use human paracetamol or ibuprofen )

Fish is easy to digest

DH, retired vet always recommended white fish with rice or pasta. Chicken always gave our dogs a runny tum.
