Just had a text to say that her beautiful Bengal was run over outside her house this morning. We were only laughing at him yesterday pretending he didn't know how to work the cat flap. (She is on her own with two children, so we are in a support bubble for childcare), this cat was part of our bubble. sad The children and my daughter are in floods of tears and we are also struggling.

It is horrible - when the children were little we lost several cats on the road and I refused to allow any more. And my DD and her family lost their kitten the same way.

Really feel sorry for you all I love my cat to bits and she is as important as a person . So sad !

That’s rotten, so near Christmas too and so sad for the DGC .
Our DD’s have both had the same happen to their cats over the last few years, and our own cat was run over too, poor old thing, so I understand how you all feel.
A friend of ours has a house cat, it’s never allowed outside, but think what a sterile life that is! A cat that explores his surroundings, tootles around in shrubbery, hunts and sleeps in the sunshine has a much better life, even if it’s a shorter one.

So sorry to hear about your daughter`s lovely cat. Mia`s predecessor Pepper was run over just over 8 years ago, but we`d been searching for him for 5 days before we found out what had happened to him.

I am so sorry. I have had three cats in my life and they all died young. I would dearly love another but can't deal with the heartache. I feel so sorry for you all.

Tangerine Thu 17-Dec-20 19:12:46

I am very sorry for you. Rotten to have it happen any time but just before such a difficult and different Christmas this year really is awful.

Jane10 Thu 17-Dec-20 19:11:04

Oh I'm so terribly sad to hear that. You all must be devastated. Life is so unfair sometimes. thanks

Sparklefizz Thu 17-Dec-20 19:05:59

I'm so sorry B9. This has happened to 2 of my much-loved cats, and it's heartbreaking. I have now got netting around my garden to make it "cat secure" to keep my cat in. She has plenty of shrubs and grass to wander around in, but at least I always know she is safe. flowers for you and your family.

MayBee70 Thu 17-Dec-20 18:52:27

I had to stop having cats because I reached a point where I was worried every time they were outside. Then had house cats (with an outside run in the garden) but it didn’t seem right not letting them have their freedom. It’s heartbreaking to lose one in that way: The absolute worst thing is when a cat doesn’t come home and you never know what happened to it. I’m so sorry that your family has lost your little friend. x

SueDonim Thu 17-Dec-20 18:50:22

Oh no! It’s heartbreaking to lose a pet in such a manner. I’m so sorry. ?flowers

Deepest sympathies. As if life wasn’t difficult enough at the moment. So sad.

Greenfinch Thu 17-Dec-20 18:45:02

I can imagine how you all feel. The same thing happened to our beautiful black cat. It's like a member of the family has gone. I am thinking of you.

B9exchange Thu 17-Dec-20 18:44:24

He was such a part of the family, seems a neighbour found him in the road, and broke the news. I can't believe I won't hear his loud voice demanding food again. My poor daughter has long covid, still altered sense of taste and smell, and they lost another cat four years ago when the cleaner let him out of the front door when they were on holiday, not realising that the cat flap had been locked to keep him in. That one must have come back, failed to get in, and been taken by a fox or been run over out of sight. I can't believe it has happened to them again.

LadyGracie Thu 17-Dec-20 18:39:17

So sorry to read this, my greatest sympathies, I lost a Persian the same way when she escaped from the house.

Deedaa Thu 17-Dec-20 18:39:08

Oh how awful! And at Christmas. So sorry, a horrible end to a horrible year.
