Thats our household at the moment
Two humans two dogs and a parrot , and if you know anything about parrots then you will know who rules the roost!

OH and I share our lives with Murphy 4 a stabijhoun and George 3 a beagle(ish) plus Basil 15 our african grey parrot.

Murphy and George keep us active, Basil keeps us both amused and poor, why are parrot suppiles so expensive?

Murphy we chose as a pup, George is adopted and Basil was sort of dumped on us one Sunday morning.
Basil has seen various dogs come and go now and he is an expert at making friends but all the while he is making sure they know who is boss. He will throw them tidbits but he can growl like a rottweiler if they invade his space.

We love the active nature of having dogs and walk about 10km (6 miles) a day with them.

Parrots are great fun. Does your Basil talk? My uncle's parrot used to order unsuspecting people about, do an accurate impression of the phone ringing and, his favourite, making the sound effects from Star Wars.

Basil is very selctive in his talking, he was abused by his first owners girlfriend so most of the time he will only talk if we are not there. They had him in a tiny cage and locked him away on his own in a utility room,. I've filmed him secretly and heard him doing a 45 minute impression of her phoning someone including the phone noises,

He does love to call the dogs using my voice and confuse the poor boys. He makes the gurgeling sound that the dishwasher makes as it pumps out and he makes the noise for my text message he also has an evil laugh. Its not a problem for us that he doesnt talk much, he does little whistles and purrs to communicate and we know what he means.

We bought the biggest cage we could find for him and added on with natural wood and braches for him to climb on, he is allowed out when we get up and only gets put inside at bedtime or if we have to go out and leave him home with the dogs.
