Oh crumbs. ?. I don’t know how damp you can allow leather to get, but using biological washing powder is supposed to be good for getting rid of cat pee smells. The enzymes dissolve whatever it is that makes the pee so stinky.

I guess even if you have to make the leather quite wet, you’ve nothing to lose, because other wise they’ll have to be binned anyway.

Oh Lord, this happened to me during the summer with old Tom who I feed outside and who lives/ sleeps comfortably in the kennel I bought him ( I did think he'd be dead by now, out in all weathers ) however, one day he'd managed to " nose " his way in the patio door which I hadn't closed properly.

I was down the garden with neighbours, in the sun, having the time of my life and when I returned, the old boy was asleep in my armchair after having sprayed somewhere and also pooed amongst my shoes. The combined stench was horrendous so after I'd shooed him out I got myself armed with rubber gloves/ Dettol/ virus wipes/ Zoflora and got stuck in----using nearly a full kitchen roll then two black bags.

I was still left with the spray smell which I couldn't settle with as it got on my nerves so what I did next was totally scatty. In one of my display cabinets I have a pack of late H's cigars so I got one out, lit it and went around puffing it
The smell was lovely and in mid-summer it reminded me of Christmas's long ago. I was quite happy afterwards and couldn't smell the old Tom.

I must have looked like Groucho Marx---because I certainly felt like him.

Hang them up on the washing line outdoors in dry, windy weather.

Unfortunately, it takes ages to get rid of the smell of tom cat, and I assume as he was spraying and is bossy that he is not neutered, from things, you cannot wash.

Even when you no longer can smell tom-cat on your boots, your own cats will stil be able to, so keep those boots where they can't reach them, or they may, even if neutered or female, wee on them in protest at the smell.

If you can find a shoemaker, saddle-maker on any other professional who works in leather you could ask if they know of anything you safely can use on the boots to get rid of the smell. I have a feeling that some of the chemicals used in tanning leather might do the trick, but don't know which ones or even if you can buy them over the counter.
