We adopted a ShihTzu around six months ago. She had belonged to an elderly couple who had her from a being a puppy. The lady died about four years ago and the gentleman seven or eight months ago.
She is ten years old. When we first got her she had been on Pedigree pouches and small bite biscuits.
She would eat these for a few days and then not eat anything for a couple of days.
This went on for a while so I changed her food to Cesar. She ate this for a while and stopped eating it again.
I have tried other dog food - hero, chappie etc but she will not touch it
I have now resorted to giving her (cooked) meatballs and small cocktail sausages, along with the Cesar. She would have this at around 9am and 6pm.
She was doing fine on this and ate it most days. In the meantime my DH has been giving her bits of our food. I also admit to giving her some pasta the other day. This was because she was refusing her own food.
I leave it down from about 9am to 9pm in the hope that she will eat it at some point. If she does not eat it by the end of the day, I throw it away and put more down the next day.
As of today, she has only eaten about six gravy bones in the last two days. She does not seem ill and this is a regular pattern that occurs every couple of weeks.
I worry about her not eating. Can anyone give me any advice.
Thanks
