A report has been produced a report linking the dredging taking place as part of the construction of a new freeport on the Tees to the outbreak of sickness and death amongst crustaceans and also dogs walking on the beaches. Here's a link to that report

It's only natural to worry when our pets are ill, they're as much as member of the family as any other - and it's sometimes harder because they can't tell us what's wrong. Hope your boy will soon be on the mend. Labs are such wonderful dogs.

Feeling very touched. He is a labrador notorious in our small town for his "bounce". To see him floored has floored me. I think morphine was mentioned which would explain him being flat out. So grateful to the wonderful and swift assistance I was given. And so grateful for these messages. I have heard about a gastro bug going around. I hope it is this and he recovers soon. XX

I hope he's ok. One of my previous dogs had a bout of sudden sickness and had to go into the pet hospital but was fine after a few days. I think she had gastritis. Anyway, I was incredibly upset about it! You are not in any way abnormal xx

We all love our pets, it’s natural to be upset when they’re unwell. I hope Ddog is on the road to recovery now, Dogsmakemesmile. flowers

Sorry to hear this Dogsmakemesmile.
I am "over-invested" as you say in my own pet, and know how bad it feels when they're not well. No way are you a wuss.

Hope he is soon back to his normal happy self. flowers

Friends of ours have two dogs, both had gastroenteritis last week, it’s doing the rounds apparently.
Hope he recovers soon Dogs.

There have been many reports recently of dogs suffering quite serious gastrointestinal problems after walking on the beach.
I hope your dog recovers soon Dogsmakemesmile

I hope he's ok now. ? Still miss my dog very much.

Did he eat anything when he was out? People throw all kinds of rubbish around including half-eaten burgers etc which can go off. The vet thought that was what happened to DN's dog with similar symptoms. He was a scavenger (a Labrador).
He recovered after treatment.

Or it could be a virus as AnnS said.
I hope he recovers well.

Very touched by such immediate kindness.
Gransnet at its best.
Many thanks.

There’s a horrible nasty doggy virus doing the rounds, hope he improves quickly.

You are not being a wuss.

We are fond of our pets and responsible for them, so of course we get upset when they are ill and in pain.

I am so glad to hear you got treatment for him so quickly.

Keep an eye on whether he drinks enough water when he is awake. Did you get advice on feeding him for the next day or so? A light diet might be best.

Hope he is better soon and you stop feeling so shaken.

♥️ thanks

Ddog currently lying on sofa having been acutely sick twice, stumbling, shaking and with no energy. Luckily I have insurance and rang the vet nurse line. Very helpful person said it was an emergency and wonderful vet practice saw him within ten minutes. He was given (I think) some pain relief and something for inflamed stomach via two injections. I admit I was unable to take much in as so shocked by his sudden ill health. I appreciate I am OTT. If he worsens they will x ray him. He seems in less pain, shaking subsided and now asleep. I expect that is the pain relief kicking in. Sorry to be such a wuss. I just needed to tell someone. I admit I have overinvested in this boy. Very grateful for the care given so far.
