If you ever wonder if your pet appreciates you chatting to them ,or think you are really talking to yourself,I can now say that my cat relies on our daily conversations.
This week I have had a chest infection and have lost my voice. My cat is upset with me and I assume it is because I can't talk to her.She has not slept on my bed for the last 3 nights and has slept in the spare room instead.
I am still stroking and petting her but that is obviously not good enough for her!

I have always talked to our rescue cats and dogs. My latest rescue Toby was originally from Romania. He didn't respond much in the beginning but when l chat to him now he constantly wags his tail. He is the most gentle soul, loves all people, children in particular. Toby has never barked or licked me though since l got him last year.
Toby came from a place called Botosani, a shelter, but not as we know them. He was there for 10 years, it's stamped in his passport. If you Google it, you will see that its not very nice, how he survived is a miracle.
I tell him everyday how much he is loved and that he will never want for anything again.

I talk to my little dog all the time, but then I talk to the plants in the garden as well.
Seriously, I know he understands many words and people's names as he often reacts when he hears them .

We have four dogs in our household currently, we all talk to all of them. I love our dogs and like them more than I like some people haha

It's true. I live alone and 'chat' to my pets. The birds 'talk' back and the small furries respond to my voice. I even talk to my fish!

I couldn’t read all the way through as we lost our 18 year old cat a few weeks ago 😢 but yes we always talk to our pets.

Definitely need conversation.

They love to listen to those they love. Both canines and felines are very supportive especially when their human parent(s) are not well ..

It's heartwarming to see how much your cat values your conversations! Pets truly do form deep connections with their humans. Your cat's reaction shows just how much they appreciate your presence and communication. Wishing you a speedy recovery, and I'm sure your kitty will be back to her usual snuggly self once your voice returns!
