Cat semi constipated

I worry that my cat does not drink enough water. She has water always available but never touches it! Have seen her drink from puddles on occasions the loo !! She has dry food during the day and wet food later , I always add water to her wet food to ensure she takes it. I am sure your vet will be able to advise you. Gooduck.

Maybe stop the dry food until you get her to the vet. Ours was constipated because he was eating mostly dry food through the day and wasn’t particularly interested in the wet food later on. Once we got the balance right he was fine.

Our cat was constipated, mainly due to the amount of fur he ingests (although that's supposed to act as roughage!). The vet gave him some medecine which solved the problem.

However, you can buy tubes of paste for dealing with hairballs and it acts as a mild laxative. When he needs a bit of help we squeeze it onto his paws for him to lick off !

Sardines or tuna for dinner served with the oil they come in - for the cat, not for you!

And if she is an indoor cat, dig up a good tuft of grass and put in a plant pot.

One frequent cause of constipation in cats is caused by them swallowing too much hair and getting fur balls when they are moulting. Grass usually moves things along, or working in the opposite direction brings itself and the fur ball up.

So don't walk around in bare feet or stockinged feet in the dark!

Take samples with you to the vet.

How did you get on with the vet?

I've got some stuff to put on her paws which she will hopefully lick off. She's the world's fussiest cat so I'm not sure how she'll get on with it. She's out in the garden at the moment.

We had that paste stuff. It seemed to work well plus our old boy enjoyed licking it off his paw.
