Not exactly pets I know, but this year our swallows didn't turn up till mid May, have had one brood, and today we noticed that they have ALL gone! Literally disappeared. Usually they leave in early September having brought off two broods, but not this year! Has anyone else noticed the lack of swallows? Bluetits and Robins are currently ok.

I've only seen one swallow this year - and that just flew over without stopping. A few weeks ago we did have about 20 house martins circling above the trees. No swifts at all.
Lots of blue and great tits but no coal tits (they raised a family in one of our nest boxes 2 years ago but have seen very few since)

I was discussing this exact thing with a friend this week. She hasn’t seen any swallows either when they’re usually annual visitors round her garden.

We have had a nest in the car port since early may. I noticed yesterday that the there is another pair just building a nest in the eaves of the house.

We only ever see the odd swallow around here. What we do have are house martins, and there are plenty of these.

Same here, we normally see them in numbers coming back in late May and then at twilight eating insects on high, such a delight. Not this year though, only a few. I assume the terrible weather earlier this year across much of their route meant many perished. So sad.

We haven't had swifts or swallows for a few years but this year we had a few nesting in the barn.

Lots of swallows, house martins and swifts still here, many living in our barn and at the back of the roof.
