When she was old and not in the best of health, I often fed our dog on coley and white rice, as recommended by our vet. She said that even their in-patient dogs who were generally off their food would nearly always eat it.
Our dog did always love anything fishy anyway - she loved licking out a tuna tin after I’d made dds’ packed lunch sandwiches!

Our 12yr old springer used to get lots of ear infections until our then vet suggested he may be allergic to chicken. We switched him to lamb based food and his ear infections cleared up.

We give our 3 year old Frenchie Edgar and Cooper: Organic salmon with pumpkin, beetroot, apple & blueberries ..

He is allergic to chicken / chicken meal / chicken by products.

He loves Kefir or Greek Natural Yogurt with Pumpkin ( jar or tin ) and not for pies ..

Also, he takes a vitamin supplement Probiodic which is a total game changer.

NO grains.

We put a topper on his food which may include:

A poached egg ( sautéed in Extra virgin oil ) / butcher calves liver poached and placed on a little rice / green beans steamed, carrots steamed or raw and peeled, cucumber peeled - never cooked & courgette sreamed or butternut steamed with rice.

Fruits with Yogurt: Mango, watermelon in season, honey dew, appled DE-CORED & PEELED, Blue berries, black berries, pear de-cored and peeled.

NEVER: Raisins / avocado / onion / garlic / grapes

NEVER NEVER. They are toxic.

Mine are on Arden Grange sensitive grain free ocean white fish & potato. It may seem expensive but quatity required isnt vast. Research the site “All About Dog Food” which has researched and rated different types of food.

No problems with skin allergies.

Do note: Amazon has an allergy exam in which the customer fills out an application and sends a few shedding hair samples and all is analyzed .. Cost is 70€uros.

It is very thorough and the research is performed by veternarians ..

The only allergy our French bull dog has is chicken. So we need to be very cautious about "chicken meal" and "chicken by products" and "chicken broth" ..

I would also query why chicken is a "no no". Obviously the bones are dangerous but other than that it suits most dogs' digestion. My dog would never speak to me again if he wasn't allowed a bit when I roast a chicken.

Just out of interest, why is chicken a “no no” Our dogs eat both cooked and raw chicken (mainly raw) and have never had ill effects, we also have a plan with our local vet and all four of them have twice yearly check ups. Our oldest one is just over 10

We too raw feed our dogs and treats are all natural, mainly meat based, with no grains or additives.

Why not donate the kibble to an animal charity and do a bit of research into other foods. Pets at Home, if you have one, have a huge supply.

Just incase you are not aware Chicken is a huge no no for many dogs. Fish skins are useful for treats. I dont give my dogs treats - no need!

Wheat seeds are being added to many foods now, presumably as a bulking agent. I have guinea pigs and have to read ingredients carefully to make sure their food is based on hay, not grains.

They are keeping quiet, but so many pet foods now are full of wheat & soya! Dogs/cats are carnivores & the wheat & soya additions (bulker-outers)! can/do have an adverse affect on the poor animals skin-conditions, causing itching and scratching alas. Raw food is best & it's redily available in frozen blocks,
I also cook my dog chicken pieces & brown rice for a treat 😋

We use dried duck /chicken/ venison as treats and you can tear bits out for treats . There are many grain free options if you have a good look around .

If you can find a recipe for dog biscuits you could try using potato flour instead of wheat flour

Otherwise try those small smelly dried fish, sold as cat treats, and which few cats will eat. Dogs usually love them.

I boil then dry in very low oven pigs liver. Chop it up and freeze. I do 6lb each time. My dogs love it.
