Just wondering? I don’t.

Prefer dogs to people - dogs dont lie. Ive had dogs all my life except for a period of 4wks. Have had 6 rescues/fosters at once now down to just 2.

But if that's how you feel, then that's how you feel - judgemental or not. To me, it's no different from the fact that I hate smokers and can't understand why anyone would want to smoke in the first place. It's just the way I feel. I can't change that.

Yes I do keepingquiet. I just don’t get people who express negative views about any animal, even those which might be considered dangerous. Don’t get me started on people who profess to “hate” rats and pidgeons.
It’s never the animal’s “fault.” They are creatures of instinct. Dangerous dogs are nearly always that way because of the owner. And I’ve overcome my fear of spiders because I now view them in a different light. They are simply trying to survive and are beautiful in their own way.
I understand if people have fear around certain creatures but that’s nearly always about misinformation.

So would you swim where there are crocodiles? Or welcome rats with Weil's disease into your garden?
Sometimes a healthy fear of certain animals is a good thing.

It's really rather judgemental to say you distrust people who don’t like dogs. You don't know if they or one of their family has had a bad experience with dogs.

I love my dogs and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one we've had in our lives. We once had 7 all at once, extremely well behaved and walked off lead over the country park together. They had great recall and were very tolerant of other dogs. Picking up after them was just part and parcel of owning them. These days I just have the two and being disabled now I can't have big dogs but have found I'm perfectly happy with my Pugs, both re homes and very loveable and affectionate. I can't imagine not having a dog in my life, I think the longest I've ever been dogless was a fortnight.

I’ve always had a soft spot for dogs. I remember when I was a kid, my family got a golden retriever named Max. He was so full of energy and always knew how to make me smile, even on the worst days. One of my favorite memories is of him running through the yard with me, chasing a ball, and always bringing it back, no matter how many times I threw it. His loyalty and joy for life were contagious, and I think that’s why I love dogs so much. They’re not just pets; they’re family, always there to brighten your day with a wag of their tail and a friendly nudge. It's hard not to love them

Why? Do you feel the same about people who don't like cats, or spiders, or bats, mice, rats etc??

I distrust people who don’t like dogs. It’s as simple as that.

Ooh, you'll get criticised for that on here! I've copped all kinds of flak for saying that before, even if it's true. And if a dog doesn't like a person, that speaks volumes for me...

I love dogs, hope never to be without dogs.

Flo122 Fri 28-Feb-25 13:40:28

I don't like dogs at all, although probably their owners. Why let one lick your face when it has just licked its bottom? Jumping up at people, smelly, owners with dogs off the lead with no recall. People expect to take their dogs everywhere with them; who thought it was a good idea to let them into restaurants, and The Antiques Roadshow

Claremont Fri 28-Feb-25 13:39:50

Far far too many dogs in the wrong living conditions and too little exercise and training, sadly.

welbeck Fri 28-Feb-25 10:31:56

At a distance OK.
Certainly not interfering with me when I am out and about.
They should be on a lead in public places.
And kept close to owner.
No lunging jumping or touching me or my clothing.

I adore dogs.
I lost mine about eighteen months ago and mourn her everyday. There is a Border Terrier shaped hole in my life.
She was such a joy and living on my own away from old friends, she was invaluable. Always loyal and always loved.

downtoearth Fri 28-Feb-25 08:42:40

I love them❤🐾🐾

nanna8 Fri 28-Feb-25 08:15:49

Yes. We have had some lovely dogs, one of them saved our daughter’s life ( Scotch collie). Can’t and won’t have one now because they have to be on leads all the time round here and our yard is too big and open. None of our lovely dogs had leads back in the day , they just walked at heel.

Chardy Fri 28-Feb-25 08:10:29

I love dogs. We had a couple when first married and when the kids were young, and getting a pup was probably one of the first things I did when I retired.
I can think of one dog owner I see often when walking the dog who I'm not wild about, but all the others are very pleasant.
And I have always had cats.

Nuttynanna2 Fri 28-Feb-25 06:39:46

I love dogs although do not have one. I do lots of day care for my son's little dog and enjoy his company, the long walk and cuddles. He is a jolly little chap who loves life and lives in the moment. He is greatly loved by the family.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Feb-25 06:13:05

I was privileged to share my life with a little cairn terrier for over 14 years. The bond we had was incredible, and his loyalty and love was unconditional.

I lost him nearly a year ago. I mourn him every day.

For those experiencing this kind of relationship - treasure it, it goes so quickly.

absent Fri 28-Feb-25 06:10:01

Yes and I would love to have one. However, I have an ex-feral cat who would be terrified and also I don't have the energy to take a dog for a walk.

CocoPops Fri 28-Feb-25 06:05:59

I love dogs, especially mine. She's super company, keeps me fit taking me walks and sleeps on top of my bed keeping my feet warm.

henetha Thu 27-Feb-25 23:26:18

Most dogs are lovely I think. But I know from experience that I'm not patient enough to live with them. I prefer cats.

Enid101 Thu 27-Feb-25 22:30:21

Hate the yappy crappy things.

GrannyIvy Thu 27-Feb-25 22:00:37

I was bitten badly as a child and from then on have not felt comfortable around dogs. I do find them a bit smelly, wouldn’t want to pick up the poo. I have nothing against well behaved dogs but they are just not for me.

Redrobin51 Thu 27-Feb-25 21:42:29

A definite yes, my rescue dogs have got me through many difficult times. This one makes me laugh each morning.
I can understand people not liking them as unfortunately, there are a lot of irresponsible owners out there who won't pick up the poo and are too lazy to train them.
