.. in celebration of Gransnet's 2nd birthday - what else would we celebrate with? cupcake grin

As you've probably seen from Geraldine's thread in Site Stuff, we'll be celebrating Gransnet's 2nd birthday on 5 May.

We want you to join in and show us the birthday cakes (or cupcakes) you've made in the past - or you could even use this as an excuse to bake another cake grin The cakes can be as they are - or decorated - we're not fussed (cake is cake, right?)

The winner will receive a family pass (two adults and two children) to Drayton Manor Park and the runners up will receive a mystery prize <ooh>

To enter, simply upload the picture of your cake onto this thread, using the image upload tool. See our image-uploading tips at the top of this thread if you need help.

It would be great if you could include the recipe, any tips on how you made it and give specifics on decorating styles, tools or tricks that you used.

The winner will be chosen from all the cake pics uploaded to this thread and to Facebook.

The competition closes on Friday 3 May, at which point we'll collate all the images and open up a voting system so you can pick one is the best (keep an eye on this thread for the poll). The poll will close at midnight on Tuesday 7 May and we'll announce the winner and two runners up on this thread and the 'Won Anything?' thread.

If you're picked to be the winner or a runner up, we'll contact you on Wednesday 8 May for your details so we can send out your mystery prize - so keep an eye on your emails!

The winner and runners up will be asked for the recipe they used to bake the cake, and we'll publish a special birthday cake page.

And if you wanted to add your cake recipe to our recipe section you're more than welcome to.

To see our terms and conditions go to our T&Cs page.

Additional T&Cs: The main winner may visit Drayton Manor Theme Park on a date of their choosing during the 2013 season. The 2013 season runs until Friday 1st November. A family pass is for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children). Winners will be issued with a reference number, which must be presented at the ticket booth prior to entry into the park. No cash refund or alternative is available. The prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion, including Family, Advanced and Website tickets.

Shysal Amazing trifle - it's soooo neat. Mind you I've just read your posts on another thread, so perhaps that's why - did you count every strawberry? wink I'm the opposite - just chuck it all in/on and hope for the best.....

shysal Sat 27-Apr-13 12:45:50

Gally, I am not good at random, my salads tend to have a pattern to them too - I know it looks naff so for visitors I make sure to jumble up the pieces.

baubles, trifle dish is from Artlands Simplicity Collection. It cost over £20 and I have only used it the once, so it was a very expensive trifle!

Loubylou, CariGN made a rainbow cake for her daughter recently, so you might get her vote! Very effective!

Jo8 people who might not want to post(too shy?) might be willing to show their skills with a pic and they may log on as regular but not regular posters. I would love to post one my grandson made (very chilling grin on the cake) but it would show him and I don't want children on the web. Gransnet is open surely to all .

I made this for a friends daughters 17th Birthday yesterday. It was a basic fudge cake with fudge and butter cream icing, topped with a ganache frosting The letters were made from a mould and decorated with curled ribbon etc as a cake topper.

This was my effort for red nose day which was raffled to raise funds for the charity even. the face was made by covering a chocolate tea cake in icing and decorating as a face, I used strawberry laces for the hair.

I really love mrspea's cake. It somehow looks very homely and made with love.

I made this for Alex's 6th birthday party because he's obsessed with Star Wars.

I am definitely not entering any of mine in! I made a joint cake last year for my DH and GD, his side had a very wonky boat with a rather tatty sail on it and hers a ballet shoe. But they are not near the standard set here.blush. Ido admire those cake makers ,their cakes look almost professional, but l do agree I love Mrs Pea's one. smile
