World Cup predictions please....

So - rules are there are no rules, no insider footballer info needed - it's just who you think will win, lose or draw - like Paul the octopus in the last World Cup - this is using the brilliance of gransnetters (and CariGransnet's goldfish - named Goldie, of course) to predict who will win the World Cup.

Every morning we post the fixtures for that day for you to post your predictions.

You'll get a point for each correct prediction (win, lose or draw) and for those with a competitive streak, there will be a bonus points option suggested for the day, so you 'fancy' up your entry <ooh>

Every morning we will update our leaderboard, however you're more than welcome to join in at whatever stage. Obviously there's less chance of winning if you join in half-way, unless you're a pro and take part in the bonus rounds!

There will be a mystery prize for the gransnetters with the most points at the end of the World Cup (13 July).

Let the games commence! Post below if you'll be taking part from Thursday.

Huge apologies for posting this so late (they have just kicked off blush )

No bonus round...this is the big one.

And a huge thank you to those of you who have taken part, we've really enjoyed reading your predictions and comments throughout the tournament.

(And thank you for those of you who have already given us your predictions for this match)

For anyone who hasn't - there's still time (until the first goal)

Argentina or Germany - Who will be the World Cup winners this year?

Tegan Sun 13-Jul-14 21:02:39

I said at the start of the thread that Argentina would be the winners; do I get a bonus point for that if they do win wink.

Tegan Mon 14-Jul-14 10:05:28

Errrr. No! Not sure what I felt about last nights game but the best team won. Glad it's over now; the only high spots being seeing Holland play [and even then not all of the time]. And, at least I'll probably recognise more players in the Premiership now.

Thanks all who have taken part! And for your lovely messages (we've learnt a lot too...) It's been a long ride!

Pittcity Mon 14-Jul-14 11:14:04

What am I going to do with my crystal ball now? wink

kittylester Mon 14-Jul-14 11:30:21

I'll have it, I need a heavy object to beat SiL about the head! grin

rubysong Mon 14-Jul-14 12:33:11

Congratulations Pittcity on your world cup success. You made lots of very good predictions. Hope you enjoy your prize (whatever it is).

Charleygirl Mon 14-Jul-14 13:35:34

Congratulations Pittcity. I am amazed that so few of us took part.

Nonu Mon 14-Jul-14 13:41:07

That shot of Christ the Redeemer with the sunset behind was just beautiful for mere words !!

smile

Pittcity Mon 14-Jul-14 14:58:30

Yes Charleygirl I'm surprised too given that there are a lot of regulars on the forums and there were only a couple of really difficult bonus rounds.

Kittylester I'll put it in the parcel with your tickets to Russia 2018!!

Nonu that's another place I'm adding to my must see list....maybe the prize is a luxury holiday in Rio????

Thanks for the congrats, it was all pure guesswork, my DS gave up advising me after he got it wrong on Day 1 and I got both of the last two matches wrong...

Great fun GNHQ what can we do next?

Pittcity Thu 17-Jul-14 15:43:58

Just been woken from my siesta in the shade to take delivery of my prize - a huge box of wonderful books. Some for me, some for my grandson and a brilliant looking one called "Unbored: The Essential Field Guide to Serious Fun" which will be ideal for DS (aged 13) for the school summer hols.

I did shake them kittylester, so I expect our tickets to be in a separate delivery wink

Maggiemaybe Fri 18-Jul-14 18:32:19

That sounds lovely Pittcity, what a perfect prize for Summer! sunshine

Charleygirl Fri 18-Jul-14 18:40:38

Well deserved.

Nonu Fri 18-Jul-14 18:44:38

Well done PITT, you deserve it !

Thank you for posting the picture of Christ the Redeamer.
