So - rules are there are no rules, no insider footballer info needed - it's just who you think will win, lose or draw - like Paul the octopus in the last World Cup - this is using the brilliance of gransnetters (and CariGransnet's goldfish - named Goldie, of course) to predict who will win the World Cup.

Every morning we post the fixtures for that day for you to post your predictions.

You'll get a point for each correct prediction (win, lose or draw) and for those with a competitive streak, there will be a bonus points option suggested for the day, so you 'fancy' up your entry <ooh>

Every morning we will update our leaderboard, however you're more than welcome to join in at whatever stage. Obviously there's less chance of winning if you join in half-way, unless you're a pro and take part in the bonus rounds!

There will be a mystery prize for the gransnetters with the most points at the end of the World Cup (13 July).

Let the games commence! Post below if you'll be taking part from Thursday.

Provided forecasts this morning.

Interesting facts:

Spain - The traditional Spanish Christmas dinner is 'Pavo Trufado de Navidad' which is Turkey stuffed with truffles

Chile - Cola de mono, monkey’s tail and the rompon are the famous Christmas drinks in Chile

Brazil - Christmas festivities go on until January 6th, which the Brazilians refer to as Three Kings Day

Croatia - Stuffed cabbage, sarma, Dalmatian pot roast, pasticada, walnut roll, badnji kruh (fresh bread), purica, smlincima and suckling pig form some of the main items of the Christmas menu in many Croatian homes.

Why am I talking about Christmas? Well, somebody has to be the first and as Midsummer's Day has been and gone, Christmas can't be far away grin

Nonu Tue 24-Jun-14 15:13:49

Damn,CROATIA out , still they tried hard with the Mexicans , suppose the heat got to them a bit .

I have to admit I did watch, little unusual for me , still with £16 riding on the result, what"s a gal to do eh ?? Probably would have gone silly and blued it on something inappropriate

Heyho.

LOL.

Pittcity Tue 24-Jun-14 16:34:10

To make a link, simply copy and paste the address from the top of the page ..for the Paxman question this will begin " www.gransnet.com/forums/webchats/1207947-Jeremy-Paxman-WWI-memories- ........."

When you preview or post this link will go blue and will link to your question.
