KatGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 21-Oct-13 10:46:05

This thread is for the 100 gransnetters who have been chosen to trial No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum.

Here’s what Boots had to say, “No7 is the UK’s leading skincare brand. NEW No7 Restore& Renew Day & Night Serum is specifically formulated for more mature skin and actively targets the five key signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, uneven pigmentation, fragility and dull skin. In clinical trials, after four weeks of use, both light-reflecting characteristics and levels of natural moisture return to similar levels of younger skin. New Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum is our fourth clinically proven serum meaning that we have a clinically proven serum for every stage of a woman’s life. We have had great results from our clinical trial and user testing, but we’d love to hear what gransnetters think about the product as well.”

We’d like you to use the product each day and night for at least four weeks, but preferably for the full eight weeks. Feel free to post your feedback on this thread as often as you like while using the serums.

When you're ready please answer the following questions:

Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a No7 skincare bundle worth over £100.

Please note, Boots may use any comments posted on this thread in marketing, editorial and/or promotional material so please only post if you are happy with this.

Thanks and good luck,

GNHQ

Just about 2 weeks in and I'm very pleased with what this product is doing to my skin - brighter and I'm certain smoother.

Just a thought - I wonder how it compares price wise to other similar products?

2old4hotpants Thu 07-Nov-13 16:16:53

Three weeks into my trial now, and a little disappointed. I cannot see much difference between this and the Lift & Luminate and Protect & Perfect that I have used previously. Yes, my skin is smooth but the sunspots are still the same and I have not yet noticed the fine lines round my eyes diminishing. The write up made it sound like a miracle product, perhaps I was expecting too much.

grannygrunt Thu 07-Nov-13 23:22:04

I have been using the serum for just over two weeks now and although I can't see any difference myself, my daughter says my skin looks better already. I must admit my skin does feel really soft and smooth though so I am pleased with the results so far.
I took a picture of myself the day I started using the serum so that I can compare the before and after shots and I will report back then!

maxdrans Fri 08-Nov-13 00:51:54

I too am impressed so far by the serums whilst using in conjunction with my own moisturiser cream but you have to ask are the same results gained by using no 7 cream your thoughts

Marion6 Fri 08-Nov-13 17:39:23

I've now been using the serum for about 2 weeks and I think it will last the month as only a small amount is required each time. My skin feels soft and smooth but I haven't noticed any increase in firmness or loss of fine lines. I wonder if I am putting enough on...? Next week I'm going to be going away for work for 2 weeks to a very cold ( about -10 plus wind chill factor) climate and it will be interesting to see how well it will work in those conditions.

whenim64 Fri 08-Nov-13 18:39:30

Used the serum for 3 weeks now and it is starting to run out. My skin is clear and some tiny fine lines above my top lip have become less noticeable. I do like this serum, but at this rate I would find it expensive to use.

mischief Fri 08-Nov-13 22:14:24

Well it's now 4 weeks since I started using the serum and I can't see any difference to my wrinkles. The serum itself is lovely to put on and makes the skin very soft but this doesn't help to support the skin. I still have some left and will continue to use it as long as I can. I'm a bit disappointed that there is no improvement in the wrinkles and I don't think I will buy any but I have enjoyed trying it out.

If I change my view after the tubes are finished I will post again.

ive been using the serum for around three weeks. My skin does feel soft for a short while after using the serum but that effect only lasts a short while. I do quite like the product but wouldn't spend £24.95 on it. I dont think I would particularly recommend it as I haven't seen a noticeable difference in my skin. However, if someone I knew was thinking of buying some I wouldn't specifically try to put them off either.

gretta Sat 09-Nov-13 11:04:57

I find the serums easy to apply but as others have said don't think they will last for 8 weeks. My skin does feel softer & the creepiness just under my chin has improved a lot. No difference to wrinkles though, I was hoping the mouth to chin lines would improve but that has not happened, just as deep, those lines are my biggest concern. I used my usual moisturiser Lacura from Aldi on top. Sorry but the serums are a bit too expensive for me to buy on a regular basis

lyndyloo Sat 09-Nov-13 19:40:49

After using this product my skin feels much smoother and softer. Lines seem to have diminished. This is a very easy to apply product and you do not need to use much

robbo Sun 10-Nov-13 18:35:44

I little late with my review but I have been away on holiday and had a good chance to test the product. It was hot and sunny so I think it was really put to the test. I loved it and so did my skin. It went on smoothly and made my skin feel nourished and hydrated. I always used Aldi moisturiser after applying the serum. This made a complete package.
I would buy again as I think I could not have used the serum under any worse conditions and it really has worked for me

Jellyfish Sun 10-Nov-13 22:48:02

I found the serum very pleasant to use and the different coloured tubes made for easy identification. My skin certainly feels softer and I think looks fresher but I am not sure I would spend that amount on a regular basis as well as for cleanser and moisturisers. I would however consider using it if my skin seemed to need a pick-up.

bamba Tue 12-Nov-13 09:51:47

I have now used the serums for 4 weeks and my skin does feel softer and a little firmer. Can't honestly say that the pigmentation has changed in any way. I found there was plenty in the tubes to last for the four weeks as only a very small quantity needs to be applied.

I would use the serum again but as it works out at an extra £25 a month to do so then I would think twice if it wasn't on offer. Not sure why it has to be in such small packaging as a larger tube would possibly be more economical. It isn't a miracle cream although it does improve the overall texture of the skin and I would recommend it to friends.

gillogg Thu 14-Nov-13 10:59:30

Now at week four and still got some serum left. I found that I did not need to use very much as it covered well. Still not liking the smell but my skin feels smooth. Haven't noticed any difference in pigmentation or any reduction in lines and wrinkles but my skin feels firmer and looks a bit brighter. Now I have to decide whether to buy it again, as it is rather expensive. The Number Seven offers reduce the price quite a lot so maybe worth waiting for one to come along. I would recommend it to my friends if they have never used anything like it before.

whenim64 Thu 14-Nov-13 11:37:30

I have used the two serum tubes for four weeks (tomorrow) and they have just run out. My skin texture is a little less uneven and my skin feels soft and moisturised, but the cost per month is more than I am prepared to pay, so I won't be buying more - happy to accept it as a present, though!

Galen Thu 14-Nov-13 11:39:22

It's lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.
My skin does feel nicer, the fine lines are less, but nothing can be done about the crevasses that could swallow a mountain goat, or even possibly one Hannibal's elephants!

I will put a picture on the 'bot's cream photo site for comparison.smile

Grannyknot Thu 14-Nov-13 11:39:56

Q1: What were your overall impressions - Great product, I like the silky texture, learnt to use just the right amount after a while, and like the colour coded tubes.

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas?
· Lines and wrinkles - I am certain there is an improvement in lines, wrinkles? Nothing but surgery will shift my frown line.
· Firmness - my skin feels firmer.
· Pigmentation - Can't say I've noticed much difference, but I have very little visible pigmentation.
· Fragility - My skin feels and looks plumper.
· Skin’s radiance - Definite improvement.

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not? - I would like to carry on using it, but it would have to be comparable in price to other similar products.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? - Yes, I would recommend.

Galen Thu 14-Nov-13 11:51:12

1 very good. I also like the colour coding. It didn't make my skin feel sticky or tight as do some creams.
2 fine lines better, not the deep wrinkles bit firmer perhaps. Haven't noticed any pigment spots.slightly more radiance (but difficult to tell as I'm naturally radiant!)
3 as this is considerably cheaper as the one I usually use and has a better effect!

I'm changing to it

Have now been using the serums for 4 weeks ( almost gone!). Easy to use. Great having different coloured tubes for day and night. My skin is definitely firmer and softer. Don't have any deep wrinkles or pigmentation, so can't comment on those. I would definitely recommend the product but unfortunately could not afford to pay out £25 every month myself.

yayaq Thu 14-Nov-13 15:41:38

further to previous post of mine I am still impressed and finding it is lasting so should eke out for the month. Have bought some for my daughter (the appropriate age)
I don't think I look quite so ancient but perhaps it the rose tinted specs.
Feels good so hopefully does good

tanith Thu 14-Nov-13 15:49:40

I too love the different colour tubes and mine are just about gone now... I must say the longer I've used it the better the effect seems and deep wrinkle at the corner of my eyes and mouth seem much less obvious , my skin does feel smoother too.. so all in all I'm impressed with the product but I'm still not sure I can afford to purchase it regularly.. maybe a kind OH will buy me some for Christmas..

kittylester Thu 14-Nov-13 16:11:45

I still have some of the Day Serum left but loads of the night serum. I have mentioned before that I find it difficult to remember to cleanse etc at night. blush

My skin feels so much softer and smoother although I still have wrinkles. sad I think my makeup lasts longer too.

I would continue to use the day serum if it was available on its own. Lots of other serums are available separately so it seems a little perverse to only have the Boots one available as a twosome.

All in all I have been pleased with the product.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try it. flowers

Lyndysim Thu 14-Nov-13 16:20:31

I have used the product in conjunction with boots moisturiser. I have previously used protect and perfect serum and to be honest it didn't seem much different. It does keep the skin hydrated and soft. I have to say that there are Dermalogica products much better but then again they are a lot more expensive.
I have not noticed any change unfortunately.
I thought it was a reasonable price, but given that it does not last long I would only purchase it when there was a 3 for 2 offer!
I will continue to use it, and would recommend it on the basis of keeping the skin hydrated.
Thank you for the opportunity to test it.

ChrissyW Thu 14-Nov-13 16:36:00

Well 4 weeks in and I've still got some serum left in both tubes. I have noticed that my makeup slides on easier and there has been some lightening of my 'age-spots' on my throat area but that could be because I'm improving on my makeup application!
I would probably be interested in buying the day serum alone as I still find the perfume in the night serum off-putting. I have previously tried a similar Clinque version of serum and can honestly say I prefer the No7 for day time use.
I've loved doing the trial and it certainly has made me focus on my skincare regime, so thankyou!

spallam Thu 14-Nov-13 17:06:07

I have been using the serums for 4 weeks now and I'm surprised that there appears to be quite a lot left in the tubes. I'll definitely carry on using them until they're empty just to find out how long they actually last. I've had an overall favourable impression of the serums. They're easy to apply, smell nice and seem to have had a positive effect on my skin. The frown lines on my forehead have disappeared completely and the creases under my eyes are lessening with every day's use. My skin feels soft and supple. My daughters said that I looked really well. I would ask for the serums as a birthday or Christmas present as I don't usually spend that much myself on face products, but if they do last a lot longer than the 4 weeks I've used them so far, I might be tempted to treat myself! I would definitely recommend them to a friend and I would also suggest that younger friends and relatives should consider using the serums appropriate to their age.
