This is the feedback thread for the Gransnet users who have been testing the new Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion.

Here’s what Balneum has to say: “Created from soothing active ingredients such as urea and laureth-6.5, our dry skin and itch relief Lotion reduces irritation and locks moisture back into the skin. Easily absorbed, it’s proven to relieve the itch and is suitable for use with eczema and psoriasis prone skin.”

A bit more about Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion:

- Suitable for large areas of skin, or when a lighter moisturiser is preferred
- Leaves skin feeling soft, supple and smooth thanks to the replacement of much-needed oils and locking moisture into the skin
- Relieves itchy skin, this lotion is also suitable for use with eczema and psoriasis prone skin

1. How satisfied were you with Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion? I was extremely satisfied with Balneum Dry Skin Itch Relief Lotion.
It was actually easier tp use due to it being a lotion and not cream. The viscosity of the lotion makes it easier to squirt out of bottle and when i get to the bottom . There will be no waste. My daughter in law has used it as well as myself. And we put it on her old dog has dry elbows we rub it into them.
2. Did Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion improve your skin's condition? Were there any parts of the body you felt it worked best on?I get dry patches of ezchma on my arms and asif like magic they were gone. Plus my sons dogs elbows are certainly improving.
3. Will you continue using Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion following this test? I will certainly continue to use this lotion . In the winter i will use it on my face as a barrier against the wind.
4. Would you recommend Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion? My DIL is a sister on a hospital ward and she borrowed it and was applying onto a patients leg. So now that patient is going to be a new customer and also she will continue to recommend this to her patients and/or family on the ward. Plus shes a convert too.

I wanted to try Balneum because of dry skin on my lower legs. I have been putting Balneum lotion on one leg and ordinary body lotion on the other. There is little difference and both legs feel softer and smoother than when I use nothing. As I have not so far found Balneum to be better than ordinary body lotion I would be unlikely to continue to use it as it is quite expensive, especially for a product where the biggest ingredient is water. I might recommend it if someone was struggling to find a product that works on their skin.

1. I was very satisfied with the lotion, 2 .I have sensitive skin on my face so i usually use Simple products on it but i gave the lotion a go as my face can get dry during colder weather. It was great, no itching and my dry spots cleared up. 3 . I will certainly consider adding it to my skincare routine in future knowing it does not irritate me . 4 .i will certainly recommend this product to family and friends.

I quite like this. Its not perfect but still very good.It was great on my legs but my arms and elbows seem to need some thing more.It is nice that it is unfragranced. Will continue to use but will alternate with other things I use.Would prefer a cream rather than a lotion.

The product was received in a jiffy bag which was wet when delivered the bag had got wet in the post and top was missing and contents had obviously discharged so could not test same

Susanmcg Tue 15-Oct-19 21:05:19

Really soothing product which I would recommend to others.

Mixed feelings about this product. I found at first it made my skin too 'wet' when I applied it, eventually realised I needed to use less of it. It does seem to make my skin less dry and very soft. But I do sometimes like a body lotion with fragrance. For that reason I wouldn't use it all the time. It seems to be very effective and I would recommend it to anyone with dry skin. I'm happy to use it just not all the time.

I have used this all over as I have very dry skin I have recommended to my sister and brother as I'm so impressed with it
I have eczema and this was very soothing
I will continue to use it from now on it's been a godsend on my legs and shins where my eczema is worse
Thanks for the opportunity to try it you have won a convert with me

cathisherwood Wed 16-Oct-19 09:29:56

I was surprised by how runny this product was and I did need to massage it in well before I felt safe putting clothes over the top however my legs were very dry and scaly and this lotion improved their condition very quickly so I probably will continue to use it if I can buy it at a reasonable price and I would recommend it for anyone with dry itchy skin

Shreddie Wed 16-Oct-19 09:36:38

I loved this lotion. I much prefer something less greasy and creamy and this fits the bill. Used mainly on my elbows, knees and shins it just soaked in yet a little went a long way. Thank you for the opportunity to try this product. I will definitely be buying.

I have delayed completing the survey until I'd had more time to test it as after I used it once I had a flare up of my psoriasis. I doubt that the lotion was the cause but I needed to use my steroid cream to clear it up.

So, my thoughts are that although not unpleasant to use, I did find it a bit too runny and my bedroom carpet has suffered with a few greasy spots! It soaks in well though and my skin feels soft for a while afterwards. However, I have not seen a difference in the psoriasis and so will not be buying the product in the future. I've read on here that it costs over £10 and that is beyond my budget really.

I would be happy to use it over a longer period but I'd need to use my steroid cream as well so won't pay that much if it doesn't allow me to stop using the steroid cream.

I was very satisfied with the Balneum lotion, I liked the lotion formulation as it made it easy to apply and a little went a long way. I mainly used it on my legs and hands, but also on arms, shoulders, neck and stomach. It effectively relieved my dry skin, leaving it soft and supply for 48 hours (so I didn’t need to apply everyday). The itch relief was the most amazing bit, as usually I’m constantly scratching my itchy red lumpy skin, but after applying this lotion I’ve not scratched once! I would certainly continue to use and recommend anyone to give it a try.

I am very happy and surprised by the way that Balneum has improved the skin on my legs. The skin was thin but felt weather-beaten (which it is not) and itched. Due to suffering from Fibromyalgia although my skin needed treatment, my legs are usually too painful to touch but this product's consistency made it so easy to apply to my poor legs. Consequently, although there are a few rough, itchy patches on my legs I feel optimistic that even these patches will respond to daily use of Balneum.
The consistency of Balneum is very good for me, taking a very short while to apply with the lightest touch, meaning that I do not dread using it.
I will recommend to anyone and I will continue to use this product. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this trial.

jundor Wed 16-Oct-19 12:38:53

Very happy with the Balneum dry skin and itch lotion. Great for my legs and arms which are always dry. I would recommend this product and continue using it if it does not prove to be too expensive to buy.

bluegruber Wed 16-Oct-19 13:20:46

Hi,
Thank you for the Balneum Lotion,
I would recommend this product, it was very soothing, I used it both on arms and legs and found it very easily absorbed.
I would buy again however would prefer a cream rather than a lotion which I did find quite runny and consequently got residue around the bottle, I think maybe cream would be easier to apply..
Overall very impressed with how it worked.

lisajordan18 Wed 16-Oct-19 19:09:16

I've always had dry skin particularly on my arms and elbows. It's worked amazingly well, better than any product I've ever tried.

1. How satisfied were you with Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion?
Very satisfied. DH used it on his dry, cracked hands and I tried it on a patch of dry, itchy skin behind my ear. We both found it soothing and easily absorbed. DH really liked the non-greasy, light consistency. I am used to thicker creams so had to get used to using only a small amount.
2. Did Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion improve your skin's condition? Were there any parts of the body you felt it worked best on?
I'm not sure that it actually improved the condition of my dry skin, though it did ease the symptoms, but DH's hands seemed much less dry after a few days' use. It is difficult to say whether this is because of the Balneum though, as it can vary a lot from day to day.
3. Will you continue using Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion following this test?
Yes, we will. We have various lotions for DH's skin that vary in their effectiveness, but this is definitely one we will finish off and buy again.
4. Would you recommend Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion?
Yes. The only downside we could see is with the cap, which is not the easiest to open and has quite sharp edges.

Thank you for the opportunity to try out this product.

As others have said, Amazon seem to have blocked reviews for this product, otherwise I would happily have left feedback there.

Very satisfied with this lotion it felt nice to apply - non greasy.
It worked on the dry skin on my shins, leaving them feeling silky smooth & moisturised but not sticky.
I will continue to use it.
I have recommended it to a friend

moleswife Thu 17-Oct-19 15:29:01

I've delayed replying to this survey because I haven't had the lotion for very long, however, it is an easy to use lotion - runny and absorbs easily. It hasn't had a great effect on my itchy patches but has been a very nice lotion to use on my skin as a softening and moisturising one. I'd recommend it for dry skin but, in my case not for itchy skin so, for that reason, I am very happy to continue using it, but will not buy it in future. I think I may offer it to my daughter who may benefit from it as others I've been reading about here have done.

Evangeline Thu 17-Oct-19 16:42:07

This lotion was quickly absorbed and left no sticky residue. It didn’t help my itchy skin but I probably need something medicated.
I enjoyed using it and would recommend it.

3. Will you continue using Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion following this test?
I will finish the bottle using it as a body lotion.
4. Would you recommend Balneum Dry Skin and Itch Relief Lotion?
Probably not as I didn't like the stickiness, and prefer my usual cream.
