This is so hard. my poor mum never suffered abuse as your mum did- but she also turned her head to the wall one day, and refused all food, drink and care. If we love them- we have to respect that and let them go- the hardest thing to do.
Glad she had a few good months in her new home, and for you to feel she was properly cared for there.

Oh my dear merlot, how I do feel for you, I will not post about my experience with my relatives, as it isn't relative, if you know what I mean. (Basically trying to avoid the "that's exactly what happened to my dad/aunt/budgie etc.)

Mum loves to sing. She has no short term memory whatsoever but can remember hundreds of songs from her childhood, the war years, marriage to Dad etc., etc.,

On Monday she got a song 'stuck in the loop' she must have sung it fifteen times. It was one of the jokey WW2 Forces mickey takes on a hymn that we used to sing when I was small.

Where we all congregate three times a day,
Ham and Eggs we never see,
No more sugar in our tea,
And we are gradually.....fading away.

I think she's trying to tell me.

Thinking of you, and hoping that she can be at peace. So good that you found the right home for her where she has had happy times.

Had to do this with my husband, merlot, so I know how hard it is. But if you are sure it's what she wants, then you are doing what's best for her, as lots of people on here have told me.

After my dad died my mother was in three homes, but the last one was the one that she actually called home. She died the night after she said that, three months after my dad. She always said she wanted to die after him so he would not have to cope on his own, and she did.
