This is my third Christmas without my husband and I was really thrown by the fact that I missed him much more than in previous years. I think the initial shock of his sudden passing is wearing off. I have three sons and three lovely grandchildren - but without "my bloke" it seemed very very empty and lonely this year.

sad

I've been called worse than a harpy! My younger brother used to call my violin a vile din!

annodomini Sun 26-Apr-15 13:26:57

You're a harpy, Galen? At Tintagel, with the waves beating on the rocks below, we need some powerful music, like Wagner, given the Arthurian context.

Galen Sun 26-Apr-15 12:46:47

When shall we have it?
When we've decided I'll open a new thread for it.

Galen Sun 26-Apr-15 12:45:48

Ill bring my harp. I'm sure I can pluck a note on two that will fool people that people will know is medieval music.

Falconbird Sun 26-Apr-15 07:55:44

I googled Rick Wakeman and he's on You Tube. He made an album way back about the Court of King Arthur. The music is GREAT. Have a listen.

We could have it on big speakers. I'm a veggie teetotaler but I can still dance with the best of them. grin

Vodka jellies, anyone? I'll be polishing my broomstick. Last time I visited Tintagel, I was 8 months pregnant - over 44 years ago. This time it will be more fun. grin

Gagagran Sun 26-Apr-15 07:37:47

I'm coming! I'll be a bit slow though as I'm coming on the Lady of Shalott's boat - can I get all the way to Tintagel by boat without having to brave the sea? It can be rough round that north Cornish coast.

Falconbird Sun 26-Apr-15 07:11:50

Hey ladies - I've been gone for a day and when I come back you're arranging a party smile count me in.

Tintagel would be fantastic - remember Rick Wakeman - didn't he do medieval music and we'll have to have Cornish Pasties. I'll make some veggie ones with tofu.

Going all out on this - going to get one of those tall pointy hats with a long veil down the back.

Can you pick me up on your bike Biker? It's on the way. Been watching Poldark smile and how about inviting him along as it's going to be in Cornwall.

I'd love to come to the (virtual) party at Tintagel. I've just made a carrot cake and can bring that. Also I live only about an hour away so it will be easy for me to get there. I don't have a broomstick or a magic carpet but I'm making a rag rug so maybe I can get some magic into that.
Can we go into the Halls of King Arthur in Tintagel? There is fantastic stained glass and lots of interesting things to see, in fact it would make a better party venue than the actual castle which is just a ruin in a spectacular setting.
What shall we do for music? It will need to be a bit 'dark ages'.

Galen Sat 25-Apr-15 23:10:49

We did indeed!
I've resurrected the thread
Is anyone interested in trying another party?

Ana Sat 25-Apr-15 22:44:36

This is the best I can do. Didn't we have fun in those days? grin
(I was Anagram then, BTW)

Galen Sat 25-Apr-15 22:39:24

Oh. We also can chose to come as appropriate figures!
pompa as Lancelot?

Galen Sat 25-Apr-15 22:37:38

Arthur was supposed to have been conceived there.

The idea is we all arrive on all sorts of imaginary transport
Magic carpets
Chariots
Tardis
Broomsticks etc
Those without transport pick up others en route.

I can't retrieve threads
Can any one retrieve the suffragettes one?

nannieroz111 Sat 25-Apr-15 22:20:53

Tintagel's a place biker. Its the Arthurian theme that's thrown me! moon

nannieroz111 Sat 25-Apr-15 22:18:17

Arthurian theme? Does that involve dressing up galen? Oh eh did I just say that out loud? grin

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 22:16:24

nannier ohh yes we will have to go and purchase some new inflatables lol, it wouldn't be the same without them grin

Galen I will first have to go and look what Tintagel means (I have led a sheltered life) lol can you remember any of the party thread names so that nannieroz may have a quick shifty, although I'm sure any newbies will soon pick up the sillyness theme, and meet all the alcoholics drinkers grin ok to my bed now so goodnight all moon

Galen Sat 25-Apr-15 21:57:54

Should we think about another virtual party? To give all the newbies a sense of how whacky sensible we are?
If so, I suggest Tintagel with an Arthurian theme?

nannieroz111 Sat 25-Apr-15 21:14:20

My gawd, what have I missed?

Never mind biker we WILL make it to Llandudno someday. Will you need your inflatable friends?

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 21:07:51

lol ohh yes Galen it's all coming back to me now shock

Galen Sat 25-Apr-15 21:06:24

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 20:59:46

soz missed an "n" out tut!

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 20:59:08

nanieroz I'm sure in time there will be more virtual parties, even real ones! who knows smile (just looking at your picys) smile I'm sure I can see myself walking along the prom! I sometimes look on Google earth as you get right down on the prom.

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 20:56:00

of course all these parties happened before "certain events" took place....I don't think there has been any since, as it wasn't the same and didn't seem the right thing, but who knows in the future !

nannieroz111 Sat 25-Apr-15 20:54:42

Aw shucks....... looks like I missed a good old night out. wink

bikergran Sat 25-Apr-15 20:49:01

nannieroz in earlier times on GN we used to have virtual parties smile one was on Pendle Hill in Lancashire, one was in Blackpool, think there was one at a Castle or somewhere posh like that (I didn't go to that one, they went without meshock think we were going to set off on a camper van tour but that went pear shaped, I'm sure there has been more!! they were a very unruly lot and often the police were called too much wine they were certain culprits of course hmm cant just rem the title of the threads if I do I shall post smile
