My mum died yesterday.

My dear mum passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning. She was only 74 years old and had suffered from bone cancer for 15 years and was a kidney Dialysis patient for 5 years. The last few weeks have been horrendous for my dad, my sister and I sitting by her bedside watching her fade away and in so much pain and discomfort. She almost had her last wish , which was to die at home surrounded by her small family but she chose to slip away quietly only an hour after I drove home just after midnight. Right until the end she was asking me to make sure I looked after my dad. I know she is free from pain now but she has suffered for so long it's just not fair.

So sorry for your loss gillybob, you must feel drained and exhausted as well as bereft. Now is the time to be kind to yourself, don't forget that you were by her side all the way, which is what she will have wanted, and don't feel guilty about any of it. Also to give and receive support from your Dad and your sister and to focus on looking after each other, sometimes sharing your grief helps and can bring solace. When my Dad died (Mum had already gone) sharing fond memories with my brothers and sister helped ease the pain, and sometimes helped us laugh as well as cry. flowers

Dear Gillybiob
My heart goes out to you ,I cried when I read your post and I am so sorry for your loss.I can really empathise with you.I lost my lovely mum almost 6 years ago after a long illness. It was such a relief to know she was no longer suffering but the grief was so painful and the longing to talk to her again was so intense.Be so proud of yourself and your family for surrounding her with so much love and care .I am sure you are emotionally drained and exhausted but will draw strength from your loved ones.
