I love him, BUT

I love him BUT he always takes control of the remote when we're watching TV. Does he think I'm incapable of changing channels?
I love him BUT whenever we go out he wears the same fleece jacket he's had since the year dot. Never wears his smart things. The fleece is 'comfy'.

Any more?
What's the thing that irritates you about DH?

Buys new clothes and then leaves them in the wardrobe for two years!

NfkDumpling Sat 13-May-17 08:30:42

Most of the above! The remote, the clothes, the driving. None really annoy, except when he falls asleep clasping the remote firmly so I can't change channel. What does annoy is his shoes. So many shoes, stacked in various locations around the house . He's just bought two more pairs and was very proud because he threw one pair out. I've said he should operate a UKIP policy. Two pairs in, two pairs out.

What a truly lovely lot of men we all have, and how lucky we are to still have them around. Would we be without them - NO!

mrsmopp Sat 13-May-17 08:13:10

Oh he was so handsome when he was young and so well dressed. Now he looks like Compo from Last of the Summer Wine, or worse still. Worzel Gummage. He thinks he doesn't have to bother any more because he's retired.
Maybe I should dress up as Nora Batty from now on. See if he notices!

Oh yes the road rage, I don't think we have a journey without encountering some other blithering idiot [insert words of choice] Tailgating is one of the most common and as we live in France you can imagine !
Like Maggiemaybe I am a paragon to live with, positively faultless.

Lost keys/wallet/phone that I always manage to find, he's also very tall so put things in a safe place I can't see so I'm constantly getting chair to look for stuff he's lost also plate on top of empty dishwasher not in it. Remember the joke on tv when the comedian observed that you don't put the chicken next to the oven to cook so why put plates on top of dishwasher to clean them! So true

Dh opens every bit of post that arrives by slitting the top and peering in trying to read the contents. He then gives up with a sigh and takes the contents out to read properly.confused

BBbevan You must be sharing my DH! I know exactly where he has been throughout the house by all the drawers, wardrobe and cupboard doors etc left open. If I mention it, he just says he forgot to close them. I do have control of the remote though.

BBbevan Fri 12-May-17 21:16:42

I can track mine by all the open drawers, cupboards doors etc.

rosesarered Fri 12-May-17 21:10:53

grin

My DH not only hogs the remote but sometimes if I ( or anybody )gets too close, his hand goes possessively over it.Haha.

Maggiemaybe Fri 12-May-17 21:03:29

Anyone else's open his post, fold it up again, and slide it all back in the envelope before dumping it? Even the junk mail? Or save every leftover scrap, even a teaspoon of beans or half a tomato, to add force to the regular Tupperware avalanche that always seems to be triggered by their DW opening the fridge door?

I, of course, am a paragon of all the virtues and an absolute joy to live with. I must remember to remind him of this. wink

Agree about overdressing in warm weather: he still wears the fleece because the pockets all have zips, so wallet, keys etc can't fall out.
Every other driver on the road is a lunatic, God knows how they passed their test.
And thank heavens the football season is nearly over as he watches it endlessly on TV. Any game, any team. Accompanied with shouts of joy for any goal, and there are beer cans all over the coffee table.
Has no idea what colour goes with what, just pulls out the nearest thing & has been known to wear five colours at once. And he'll buy any piece of tat if it's a bargain. It's Horrible! But it was only £3.99!! A Bargain!
But I still love him...

I used to say I would never marry a man who was untidy or who smoked. Well, DH doesn't smoke, but I dream of a husband who would get things out of cupboards/drawers etc and then put them back in again, not leave them quite close to where they belong but not actually put away. Otherwise he is perfect!!

Jalima1108 Fri 12-May-17 20:18:04

I love him BUT whenever we go out he wears the same fleece jacket he's had since the year dot.
Even on a warm day and with a shirt and jumper underneath too.
I have to anaesthetise him and operate to get the fleece off in May every year.

Thingmajig Fri 12-May-17 19:56:52

Mine monopolises the tv ... if there's football on you can be sure he'll be watching it! Thank god the end of season is nigh and we can get some tennis instead.grin

Next most annoying thing is the driving ... as we leave our driveway he starts a running commentary of everything every other driver on the roads is doing wrong ... so mostly they should be losing their licence in his opinion. I tend to switch off the ears so if he happens to say anything interesting it falls on deaf ears. And, I never ever drive with him in the car!!!!!

Otherwise he's a lovely chap! smile

I live with an elderly/old Alzheimer's sufferer. Try that for no aim at all. I have to mop and change mats every day.

LadyGracie Fri 12-May-17 19:38:58

Thankfully I have ny own bathroom, he also never washes his bathroom sink!

LadyGracie Fri 12-May-17 19:38:02

I have the remote, I load the dishwasher, wash the dishes, feed the cats. DH leaves his shoes on the conservatory mat, leaves empty wrappers on work tops, empties teacups in sink but doesn't rinse tea away, puts dirty knives in the washing up bowl AND is a terrible aim!

MamaCaz Fri 12-May-17 18:25:12

Another whose DH does the remote thing. And why does he feel the urge every single time there is an ad break/between programmes to look at the digital TV guide, even though he has already set a reminder for everything he wants to watch that evening? Sometimes he even does this while we are watching a programme which ,to put it bluntly, really pi***s me off!

Welshwife Fri 12-May-17 18:13:40

Mine sees any clear worktop in the kitchen as a place to spread out whatever is in his pockets!!! Drives me nuts.

Chewbacca Fri 12-May-17 17:49:10

My OH has a weird system of clothing that drives me nuts. Day 1 he will take a polo shirt or sweater out of his drawer, wear it and then, at the end of the day, leave it on a chair. Day 2, takes a fresh polo shirt or sweater, wear it and then at the end of the day, leave it in a different place to sweater/polo shirt number 1. Day 3, take another top, wear it and leave that on a chair, sofa, bed, floor. By the end of a week, the house is littered with semi dirty clothing. As if that isn't irritating enough, he won't let me remove the whole lot to be washed because "I'm wearing that! It's only been worn once, I might wear it again tomorrow ". I'm going to burn the lot of them on a garden bonfire one of these days.

vampirequeen Fri 12-May-17 17:45:01

There is nothing my husband does that annoys me. I've wracked my brains but really can't think of anything.

Katek Fri 12-May-17 17:37:01

With mine it's the teabags. He empties teapot into the little half sink and leaves the teabags and remains of the tea just sitting there. There is a container for the bags a mere foot away and it takes no time to rinse the sink!! I'm always having to bleach it. And don't even get me started on his extensive collection of fleeces out of which he will choose the scruffiest. He's regrowing his beard and moustache as well so looked like a hobo in Tesco earlier.

Cherrytree59 Fri 12-May-17 17:36:49

Roses ditto
and my DH has a Tupperware thing.
Everything must be in Tupperware boxes .
'Wow betide' anyone who mixes up the Tupperware lids or worse doesn't return borrowed Tupperware items.

I love my DH but....

He leaves crumbs everywhere when he cuts bread, makes a sandwich or slices cake. Grrr!

hulahoop Fri 12-May-17 15:56:40

Keeping hold of remote seems to be a man thing mine does it then puts his programs on and falls asleep like yours f77 plus he as about 3books and a couple of mags on the go around his chair I have faults which probably wind him up so I don't complain too much .
