Well the world is both more materialist and scientific in orientation and Humanism doesn't require a God, anymore than Scientology does.

The use of the terms 'Darwinist' and 'Darwinism' usually means that what follows will be ignorant nonsense.

The science has had 150 years in which to develop since Darwin (and Wallace) had 'the great idea', and much is now known that was hidden from him - the actual mechanism for inheritance via DNA for one thing.

Or perhaps we should be calling gravity 'Newtonism'?

It's obvious that he is a philosopher not a scientist. It is also obvious that he shares the belief that there is something uniquely special and exceptional about human beings other than their successful colonisation of so many ecological niches. Reverting to "common sense" would have us all still believing that the sun moved round the earth. Pshaw!
