be kind enough to tell me if you believe in the power of prayer. I know this is a very personal field, but it would be lovely if you could just post Yes or No. People who have never posted anything before are doubly welcome. smile

Nobody would come back to bite you whichever way you posted. They won't dare. (my bite can be worse than any others)

I guess, being Easter this is primarily aimed at Christians, but any God is fine with me. smile

Happy Easter to you, whether you believe or not. x

That's me too Galen

I think prayer can provide great solace for those who pray, and those they pray for, so in that respect it is powerful. I don't believe prayer can alter the outcome of a specific situation, though.

celebgran Sat 30-Mar-13 15:50:45

Goose I quite agree positive thought can be very powerful!

janeainsworth Sat 30-Mar-13 17:14:33

Yes, but you have to be careful what you ask for.
Ana I think outcomes can be changed, if through prayer or meditation your perception of a situation is altered, and this changes the way you act.

Ana Sat 30-Mar-13 17:29:32

I agree, Jane - I was thinking more on the lines of 'Please don't let such and such happen', when one has no control over the situation. Of course prayer or meditation could help in accepting the outcome, whatever it may be.

For me, it's tough one.

Might I ask (and apologies if this has already been asked) the power of prayer to whom?

j08 Sat 30-Mar-13 20:56:50

So far, seems like 13 yes's and 10 no's. So almost 50/50.

Anyone else? Any "lurkers" out there? You would be very welcome. smile

Wheniwasyourage Sat 30-Mar-13 21:11:34

Yes

I am not quite sure what you expect to find from this 'survey' - you can hardly extrapolate from the replies of less than thirty members out of a membership of some 15,000!

Anne58 Sat 30-Mar-13 23:36:18

Ah, now we are almost straying in to the realms of the confidence interval!

(Almost, but not quite home ground for me!)

petallus Sun 31-Mar-13 09:48:43

Thanks, good to be back smile

Elegran Sun 31-Mar-13 09:58:26

JO You could probably assume that the other 14,967 are no's as they are not rushing into posting a yes.

"Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters" (Matthew 12:30)

Hi Petallus, you said you would do it and you have. What will-power!
