I too have just read Leaving Alexandria and found it very interesting. I worried about him though as he seems to carry around a huge burden of guilt, which I guess is related to his religious training. Even when he is doing something good he is looking over his shoulder and thinking others are doing it in a more genuine way - sad really.
But he came across as a kind and thoughtful man.
The book charts his spiritual journey away from the church; but there were glaring gaps which might have illuminated the tale, like his 2 years of army service, 2 years of living and working in Africa, and there was next to nothing about his family, who seemed to be destined to trail around the world after him in his search for meaning.
