(The interviewer's reaction is priceless).

Yes loopy, think I'm a bit on the mend. Ta for asking. smile

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 19:30:58

Thanks loopylou too. And annodomini.

"A thread if you want to ask me a question about christianity. Mine, or in general." I does sound rather as though you would have answers if asked! I wouldn't start a thread like that about anything, even if I did know a lot about it.

Nothing on telly worth watching, Jings when I have had a quick check through GN I shall go and finish my book. ("Bitter Greens" by Kate Forsyth)

BTW If anyone wanted to get Paul Hollywood's book "How to Bake" but balked at paying £20, it is on Kindle Daily Deal for 99p

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 19:28:58

Thanks jingl. I had better be off.

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 19:25:37

No it doesnt Ana.
Anyone can start a thread about anything. It is up to anyone how much notice they take of it, or whether they post on it or not.

Plus I was at the time getting asked all sorts across all sorts of threads, so in that regard, it stopped that, which was the primary intention.

And I will reiterate again. It was a thread for people to ask me questions if they wanted. And they did.
And still do for that matter. But at least now the questions dont pop up all over the place. Because they were getting asked on the most inappropraite of threads. Which was awkward for all concerned.

loopylou Wed 24-Jun-15 19:24:14

grin jingl
Actually there's nothing currently on worth watching........ hmm are you feeling any better today?

annodomini Wed 24-Jun-15 19:23:49

soon, haven't you ever heard that when you're in a hole you should stop digging. Now...about that knitting....

Ana Wed 24-Jun-15 19:23:05

It's not baiting, jingl. None of the stuff soon's going on about makes sense. I'm off anyway...

Ana Wed 24-Jun-15 19:21:23

I seem to remember that the only poster who introduced the subject of Christianity on various other threads was you yourself, soontobe. No one else would have done...

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 24-Jun-15 19:19:38

hmm

Have you lot not got tellies?

#baiting

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 19:18:44

If someone starts a thread like that about knitting, I wouldnt think or assume that they are an expert in knitting. Just that they know some things about knitting. And didnt want knitting questions popping up on threads about all sorts of other things, not much related to knitting.

Ana Wed 24-Jun-15 19:17:24

Well, it did rather imply that you know more than anyone else on here about Christianity (yours or anyone else's...hmm)

mcem Wed 24-Jun-15 19:17:08

Surely it's a basic tenet of Christianity that the church is the people and that the buildings are relatively unimportant.
'The church is wherever God's people are praising'.
So in this context, discussing buildings is a no -no!

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 19:14:35

How does me starting that thread, make you think that I said I am an expert?

Soutra Wed 24-Jun-15 18:59:14

I should have said that was started on 14 January of this year.

Soutra Wed 24-Jun-15 18:57:26

"A thread if you want to ask me a question about christianity. Mine, or in general.

I am getting asked questions about my christianity across different threads.

So if you want to ask me a question, ask here.

If no one does, fine. Great.
But if you do in future, I suspect that gransnet would like it dealt with here rather than questions popping up on other peoples' threads, for the forseeable.
Thanks."

I believe this is the thread I had in mind.

Soutra Wed 24-Jun-15 18:55:33

You haven't explained anything.

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 18:54:28

I never said I was an expert. If you think I did, show me!

I have explained the rest.

Now that really is the end of me explaining all this to you grin

Soutra Wed 24-Jun-15 18:47:18

Nobody is talking about terminology/jargon or history but Methodism and the beliefs of Methodists the members of the Methodist Church

You cannot claim to be an "expert" as you did when you started a thread to "explain Christianity" some time ago, or hold a position in an organisation then rubbish it by saying you do not care about it as I have quoted above, you may have "mis-spoken" as the Americans say, however changing the subject just suggests to me that you have got out of your depth and don't know how to get out of it.

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 18:40:48

By Methodist Churches I mean the buildings, in my last post. Just in case that leads to anyone not understanding.

I am very surprised that people are so interested in all this stuff to be honest.
It is good. But I am surprised.

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 18:37:12

I care about the Methodist Churches. I have to. It is part of my volunteer job.
I obviously care hugely about the members.
I care hugely about the people that are in the area, Christian or not.

I do not care much about the Methodist history. There are plenty of others that do.
I do not care about Methodist terminology. I dont like jargon at the best of times.

mcem Wed 24-Jun-15 18:27:23

Ana quite serious. Awaiting reply.
Soon what on earth does that last post mean?

Soutra Wed 24-Jun-15 18:24:52

Nothing.

I am talking about Methodism and the Methodist Church

you are not noticing the letters at the ends of the words. I am off again(18.16)

I said I do not care much about Methodism. That is not the same as the Methodist Church (18.04)

Make up your mind. confused.

Ana Wed 24-Jun-15 18:23:17

mcem you do realise that your suggestion (whether serious or not) will not be allowed to rest...

soontobe Wed 24-Jun-15 18:16:37

Nothing.

I am talking about Methodism and the Methodist Church.

You are not noticing the letters at the ends of the words. I am off again.
