There is definitely no loving God. Fact.

Early this morning, on the World Service, I heard the voice of a six year old boy crying out to the doctors treating him, "Don't let me die! Don't bury me!". The doctors, trying to reassure him, laughed and said, "You're not going to die".

It was in the Yemen. The little boy had just seen a three year old, put into the ground. He was wounded himself shortly afterwards.

He died. The doctors were unable to save him.

If you have heard that young voice on a video on the internet, you will agree with me.

Well let God give me an answer then soontobe. I'm listening.

Jingle, if he exists you think we would be living in Eden?

There is no God because children are shot, starved to death etc, but it is man who fires the gun, man who is unwilling to feed the hungry

God has told us how to live, how to treat each other , we choose to ignore

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Oct-15 13:19:20

Grannyactivist that is truly hurtful. What can I do to help children getting shot in these war zones? How can I stop the wars so the people don't take to the boats? I can't. I've given what I can to the aid charities. I will give some more. What more do you expect of me?

Who's blaming god?

soontobe Wed 21-Oct-15 13:16:01

jingl. A Bible warning. About not leading people away from God. I think your subject heading and op may do that.
I think you need to be careful in that regard.
It is ok to be het up, but people have to be careful what they do when they are.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 13:13:55

Grannyactivist , I think as you do.

I also think how easy it is to blame God, it takes all responsibility away from ourselves, leave us guilt free

soontobe Wed 21-Oct-15 13:10:05

God has given humankind free will.

We do not know if it was better for that child to die then, than stay in the situation he was in.

[Young people go to heaven].

Riverwalk Wed 21-Oct-15 13:07:33

Grannyactivist don't accuse non-believers of blaming god!

Non-believers, I'm one, just believe that there is no god.

harrigran Wed 21-Oct-15 13:00:37

The thread is not pointless Anniebach we are just confirming what jingl said when she started it.
It is very distressing to hear such a young child, as a parent and grandparent it tears your heart out.

grannyactivist Wed 21-Oct-15 13:00:37

I am truly saddened beyond words for what these children and their families are going through. I do wonder though, if all the people who get cross and frustrated with a God they don't believe in also take personal action to alleviate the suffering of those who are affected. God or no God - can we honestly say that we've tried to make a difference on a personal level? Until it hurts? Do we volunteer? Do we give our time and skills? Do we give every penny we can afford? Have we offered our spare rooms? Did we offer to foster unaccompanied children who have escaped war? Do we give to foodbanks? Did we march to oppose military intervention?

I know that I could do more, so I'm not going to sit at home and blame God for the world's misfortunes until after I've taken personal blame for my own lack of action.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 12:56:34

Nonnie, yes I should have said mothers and fathers,

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:50:48

I need to hold these children in my arms, I weep for them.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Oct-15 12:45:38

I know. I had my headphones on and I woke up at just the wrong time. But we have to know about these things.

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:43:35

When I hear such terrible things I simply can't get it out of my mind, so I know how you feel.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Oct-15 12:41:58

Surely he could have some way of entering the minds of these people. If he really is there.

I guess I started the thread because I wanted to mourn for that poor little lad. And for the others drowning at sea in the rubber boats.

Nonnie Wed 21-Oct-15 12:39:20

I'm staying out of this but Anniebach why only "stop fathers abusing their children"? What about mothers? I'm not being stroppy, just fed up with the assumption that it is always men.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 12:08:14

Then harrigran , this thread is pointless isn't it?

harrigran Wed 21-Oct-15 11:57:47

He can't Anniebach because he does not exist. War is an example of man's inhumanity to man. We will never stop war because from the very beginning humans have coveted their neighbour's land and will stop at nothing to acquire it.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 11:45:51

Then harrigran, perhaps you can explain how he can stop one country bombing hell out of another country?

harrigran Wed 21-Oct-15 11:41:54

Should he have blown up the UK when we went into Iraq? Same to America for their brutality in Vietnam?
What happened to God is love ? he should not be contemplating obliterating whole nations.

mollie Wed 21-Oct-15 11:41:42

Assuming there is a God, how should he stop wars, prevent all illnesses and accidents and acts of cruelty? These are all outcomes of one thing leading to another so how would he stop it? How did you protect your children from the fights and accidents and illnesses they had? Did you wrap them up in protective clothing and put them into individual cells until they grew up?

And about wars... whose side should God be on?

Elegran Wed 21-Oct-15 11:39:39

Man made God in his own image, to explain what was unexplainable in his environment, to have a conscience that could work out what he should do, be separate from himself and ignore if he didn't want to do it, and so that he had a Big Brother to fight his corner and sort out all the things he had no control over.

ninathenana Wed 21-Oct-15 11:22:34

I feel for that 6 yr old of course I do. I also feel for the many children his age through out the world who will die an accidental death or die of cancer etc.
That cannot be blamed on the evilness of man. Whether I believe it is the evilness of God. I don't know.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 11:13:41

Should God take homes away from us and give them to the homeless ?

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 11:12:24

So he should stop wars? How? Should he have blown up the UK when we went into Iraq? Same to America for their brutality in Vietnam?

He is jolly useful to those who don't believe in him, every evil deed by man could be stopped by a God we don't believe in !
