There is definitely no loving God. Fact.

Early this morning, on the World Service, I heard the voice of a six year old boy crying out to the doctors treating him, "Don't let me die! Don't bury me!". The doctors, trying to reassure him, laughed and said, "You're not going to die".

It was in the Yemen. The little boy had just seen a three year old, put into the ground. He was wounded himself shortly afterwards.

He died. The doctors were unable to save him.

If you have heard that young voice on a video on the internet, you will agree with me.

Practical, I think your claims turn some from God not to him sorry.

Jesus loves me—this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong—
They are weak, but He is strong.

Refrain
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me—He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Refrain

Jesus loves me—He will stay
Close beside me all the way,
Then His little child will take
Up to Heaven for His dear sake.

There is the deal. No mention of saving anyone's life or easing their pain. Just a promise to whisk you up to heaven when you die. Even as a child I didn't think this was a good deal.

dramatictessa a family member was in critical care and we were sent for in the night. He had 2 serious operations and there was a bleed in his stomach they had put a camera down and couldn't find where it was coming from so they said they would give it one more go then would have to operate but didn't think he would pull through an operation. There was 4 of us there in that room all saying a prayer. A few min's later we heard a doctor outside the room saying it just stopped without us doing anything. They hadn't even tried the camera again. He must have been in a bad way for them to send for us in the night. The next morning he was fine as if it never happened. As the bible says wherever two or more are gathered in MY name I will hear you.

Proverbs 3.5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Nothing like Russian roulette and I do not believe God picks on a whim , people have prayers answered sometimes and sometimes the answer is no. Anyone who claims to have had prayers answered must also have had the answer no too.

We expect answers we want no matter if they are not right for us

dramatictessa Sun 29-May-16 21:09:13

practical would you care to share what your dramatic proof is? That's not a challenge, just an invitation.

GandTea Sun 29-May-16 21:04:29

I am glad that I don't believe in this god person as it appears he can pick and choose whose prayers he listens to, odd not what I would expect.

granjura Sun 29-May-16 21:02:23

3 years ago I read my horoscope- and it was right - proof.

granjura Sun 29-May-16 20:55:05

Like Russian roulette- sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
I have lost many friends who have prayed, as sincere Christians, and who have lost children and sibblings, parents. Perhaps it was their fault? Perhaps they didn't pray 'properly' - perhaps?

practical Sun 29-May-16 20:50:39

dramatictessa I had dramatic proof that prayers do work. So someone is answering perhaps not all prayers but some.

I never noticed the dates I just went on things I am interested in, if that's called motivation so be it.

dramatictessa Sun 29-May-16 20:45:56

Since the thread has been reopened, here's my pennyworth. If evil things occurring is proof that there are no unicorns, then good things occurring must be proof that there is. In other words, god does not exist, in the same way that unicorns do not exist. There may be a force which holds the universe together but it has no influence on individual inhabitants of any of the planets.

confusedconfusedconfused!!

granjura Sun 29-May-16 20:33:17

Of course you can open old threads- I just wonder what your motivation is- as you obviously and carefully searched for them in past history.

practical Sun 29-May-16 20:29:10

'granjura' as you said I am a 'new' member whatever '' means
I didn't realise I couldn't open any thread, because other sites I've been on most members were helpful and not one bounced on me for not knowing.

granjura Sun 29-May-16 19:48:11

Seems strange that a few 'new' members seem to appear out of the blue- re-open long dead threads just to stir. Will give them a wide berth.

Christinefrance Sun 29-May-16 19:06:02

If you can't stand the heat etc. However I apologise for a lapse in the milk of human kindness dept. We all see things differently and not everyone has a popular opinion.

Alea Sun 29-May-16 18:27:20

Fine if that's what floats your boat. Personally I think there is a name for that.

Christinefrance Sun 29-May-16 18:25:57

Yup

Alea Sun 29-May-16 18:25:06

OK, Christinefrance, are you on a challenge to upset the greatest number of people in the shortest possible time or what?

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 29-May-16 18:24:41

Thank you Alea.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 29-May-16 18:23:58

I assume anyone resurrecting this thread will have read my original post. Anyone who couldn't tell the sadness and despair I was feeling at that time is definitely lacking in something. And not necessarily a high IQ.

Christinefrance Sun 29-May-16 18:20:37

So sorry Jinglebellsfrock didn't realise the forum was for members of Mensa only, don't think war crimes are a matter of taste

Alea Sun 29-May-16 18:15:03

Why has this thread been revived? I believe it was started as a very understandable reaction to a shocking tragedy, not as the prelud to some esoteric religious or philosophical debate.
Oops I see jingl beat me to it.
Nuff said

granjura Sun 29-May-16 18:05:25

I just asked - not 'put words in your mouth'...

my response was to practical who very deliberately chose to re-open this thread, which she must have had to deliberately search for- and the question remains - how does free will relate to little children?
