Let us pray

Father God, our world seems in turmoil, sorrow, grief, anger, bitterness, hatred , shock, injury both physical and mental , innocents have died, many are suffering the dark night of the soul.

We pray for all who are suffering , for the firefighters who have to face scenes we cannot and do not want to imagine, hospital staff who are nursing and comforting the injured. For those who may have to be held responsible for this tragedy . For ourselves who are witnessing this suffering.

We ask in the name of your son, our Lord for healing for all who suffer and may they know the peace which passeth all understanding.

Amen

Please may we find a way to come together to find ways to improve things for those in need.
Help us to do what we can in our communities and on line to bring support to people so that we can build an liberal, efficient and caring nation.
Where shall I start today?

Thank you Annie, I am encouraged by the fact, that when there is such a terrible tragedy, so many people, in what has become a somewhat secular society, turn to prayer. It doesn't matter what creed but I think it is encouraging that so many of us recognise there is something outside ourselves. We do not know why these terrible tragedies happen, natural disasters as well as man made ones. I am reminded of a poem that I've passed on to my grandchildren -
"Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

I am Alps joining you in prayer. After all God promises to heal our nation if we humble ourselves to pray - and only he has the power to do that. I'm also praying for wisdom for those in government to respond with compassion as well as a show of strength and yes for those brave men and women in the emergency services and the communities which come together in love to help.

That's 'also' not Alps - autocorrect strikes again!

Amen and thank you Annie. It is compassionate of you to pray.
I feel that prayers and religion can be marginalised or the source of ridicule in so many situations. Thank you for your bravery!
