Perhaps I shouldn't comment. I would describe myself as a lapsed Anglican, or on a bad day an agnostic!! I did for a few years go with my husband to a Methodist church - he was a life-ong Methodist - but didn't feel comfortable with their form of worship. I no longer attend any church and frankly don't miss it
The point I want to make is that having had experience of two churches in each one there were women who behaved as the woman in in your church. Everyone was too kind or embarrassed to stand up to her so in the end the only solution was to ignore her and let her trant on her own. I have to ask is this woman married because in each case it was obvious she felt she had nothing in common with the rest of us and in each case had a fixation on the vicar which in a younger woman would have been described as a crush! I would not suggest that the feeling was reciprocated!
Perhaps your ultimate weapon would be to threaten a mass exodus to another church which given the falling attendance in the CofE might spur your vicat into action!
