A very beautiful hymn. They used to play this at Communion at the Catholic Church I attended many years ago.

It is very popular at funerals in our Diocese. ( West of Scotland )
Most certainly recognised as a hymn.

It’s sung in our church , and our Priest i s very strict about only hymns being used
It is lovely

I Watch The Sunrise is a folk style hymn, written in 1970 by John Glyn, Roman Catholic priest and poet.

this is lovely but I wouldn't call it a hymn.

it is actually a very commonly sung hymn these days, at least in my church.

It is also very commonly used for funerals, perhaps for obvious reasons.

I like it.

I had this hymn played at my Mums funeral 13 years ago and it still moves me.

That sounds lovely.
Hymns can often provide a sense of comfort and peace. Do you remember the name of the hymn?
If you enjoyed it, you might find listening to more music in a similar style soothing and uplifting.

It is common at funerals in my church, definitely a favourite of mine.

So sorry Braun2019. Such a shock to have so little time after diagnosis. And your husband so young.
It seems to be a choice for many at a funeral. I had never heard it before.
Two years is a short time. I pray it gets easier gor you. x

Thank you ☺️

Beautiful. I do know the gym and without putting the sound on to wake DH, I can hear it in my head smile

Beautiful hymn, but not well known.
I chose this hymn as the first one for my husband's funeral service two years ago.
He died 3 weeks following confirmed pancreatic cancer diagnosis including lung secondaries. It was a dreadful shock and I'm still trying to adjust to life without him.
He was only 63.
I often listen to this version.

One of my favourite hymns.

Beautiful. Very moving and the image of the man is extremely comforting somehow.

nadateturbe Sun 02-Jun-24 20:15:49

Glad you enjoyed it Greenfinch.

Just heard this on Radio Ulster Sounds Sacred. I'd never heard it before.
Very comforting simple hymn.
