I don't think the Bishop was doing anything other than "speaking truth to power". It may not be your "truth" Boz but it is her's and she said what many people, both in the US and living in other countries, believe. She's brave as this will put a target on her back in a country that has more guns than people.

I also think that the main problem here is that Trump truly believes that he has been chosen by God.. He said this in his speech and I think that he is delusional enough to think that he is now above the church..

She was just asking Trump to be compassionate. That's never going to happen. He has thrown his toys out of the pram because someone dared to disagree with him. The man is hideous.

I dont think her speech was in anyway prescriptive, tho, it called for mercy and compassion not any specific polices.

Yes, the Cass Review acknowledges that there are children and young people who identify as transgender

The Cass report is concerned not with denying those identities
but in protecting, counselling, caring for, and assisting those children as they grow older into adults to make up their minds in good time, and preventing interventions like early medication until at least young adults.

This is one of the big problems with Western politics.....separating religion from doing what is right for society. In Muslim countries, the Muslim teaching dictates the laws of the country. In Christian countries, it's more difficult. Being kind and compassionate is not always the best option.
On the subject of gender, I think it's very cruel to allow a person to believe that they can change their gender. The best they can expect is to be allowed to live as their chosen gender, but accept that society will still see them as their true gender.
Allowing men to participate in womens sports is absolutely ludicrous.

Some top Republicans are now calling for her to be demoted and deported.

With all those dangerous, violent criminals being released by Trump, I fear for her. I think she is prepared, and knew that they would go after her. I pray for her.

I am not a practising Christian, or indeed any other religion, but it was clear to me that she was telling him that Christianity is not a label for him to use for his own ends, but a doctrine that challenges its followers to live compassionate lives - he was not listening in any real sense, but she was brave a right to speak out.
