As per the heading. A family I'm friendly with have recently moved to this area - into a hundreds of years old house. They've found it comes with three resident ghosts!
They aren't bothered about the dog ghost they've come across there. But they are bothered about the two human ghosts. The woman is less of a nuisance - though it's disconcerting to have her pick up an egg at intervals from their egg rack and throw it across the room (their own dog enjoys a treat of lapping it up when that happens). But they'd certainly prefer not to have her there - especially when she pushed one of their daughters the other day.
There is a male one as well and they definitely don't like him being around - as he feels quite aggressive to them.
My first suggestion when they told me about their unwelcome house guests was to contact the local Catholic church and ask for an exorcism. They told me they did that - and just got an email back saying "We'll pray for you". They wanted something rather more positive than that.
They're pretty open to any way that will do the trick to remove the unwanted house guests and I'm duly thinking my way through my contacts - through from Anglican to pagan to Spiritualist to see who might be able to help them evict the unwanted guests.
Has anyone got any helpful thoughts? contacts?. We're talking West Wales here...
Is that what's called banter ?
My story about the drip stand . I did not feel I was mocking, I felt I was sceptical.
On a public forum when you make an extraordinary claim you risk having the claim challenged.
Either Gransnet may include objective points of view or not, and the moderator should make this clear.
I'm sorry to have hurt anyone's feelings, especially Cariad who is such a good writer. I'm really interested in the paranormal from an objective point of view; maybe I should seek some other forum where paranormal experiences are expected to be discussed objectively.

I saw a white figure in my peripheral vision after my stroke while I was in bed in a hospital ward on a drip. I told my son and he wheeled the drip stand closer so I could see it properly
If that's aimed at me there was no drip stand where I saw the figure. The baby's crib and the bedside cupboard was on the other side and all there was where I saw the white figure was a blue curtain that was pulled round my bed.
People are revealing personal stories so you are very unpleasant to be mocking.
I'm not very happy either that some people do look to be mocking those of us who have had a more "unusual" experience of one description or another. Just because it doesn't happen to some?/a lot? of people doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others.
Many people have some level of ability or something in things that others don't and that's just how it is. I couldn't do anything remotely complicated with technology if I tried or drive a car competently and that's just how my mind works - and it works in other directions better than some peoples minds do. It wouldnt help if we were all the same - "one persons meat is another persons poison" ....
I know there are people out there who want to be seen as "special" (newsflash = absolutely no-one is special imo) - but a lot more people have probably had an "unusual" episode or two than ever mention it - because they know there are people out there that ridicule - rather than saying "It doesn't happen to me - but you may well be right that something unusual happened to you".
I guess those who say "Nah - people make these things up" are doing so because they personally are frightened that the teller is indeed reporting accurately what happened - but they don't want to admit to themselves that unusual things do happen sometimes....
Caleo so The Lady In The Lake is true , and Gelert did save the baby 👍

Anniebach . No of course I don't mean lying . Lying is intentionally unfriendly , at the expense of another person. Most story telling helps to keep a community happy .

That is so nice to hear, Cariad. I am lowland Scottish myself, and maybe that is why I am more socially inhibited than you Celts.
I'm not a Celt myself - well only a tiny part of me. I've got a Scottish ancestor a few generations back on my mothers side and I know the clan name. So, when I saw a recent YouTube video about things some of the clans are known for I thought "Betcha they're going to feature that clan - and I just know what my ancestors clan are going to be known for".
Yep...they featured them - and yep...that clan was known for having The Sight. Try having a descendant of theirs as your mother - and it was not funny trying to keep anything from her...
LOL at the "socially inhibited" - as, by now I think I could get a reasonable headstart on knowing who the local thieves are and where they live - as I've been told about some of them...
To which I add in - "....and there's one living a few doors down from that shop in that house" - and I know because he tried to steal off me.
The main local taxi service is a gem for sharing information unofficially.....

They're attuned to some things for sure and the conversation ranged over a noticeable range of topics and I found out rather more about a different system of "justice" than the usual one. I guess it's one sign of acceptance (by some at any rate) when you get told examples of the "other" way of dealing with issues to the one I'm used to - and duly agreed there is some times when the conventional official system doesn't work very well.
They certainly "chat" sometimes and I find that one of the positive points personally - as I do too.....after my initial astonishment at the idea of a tradesperson saying anything other than a quick query about the job. The "grapevine" is certainly alive and well here...for good or bad.

Finally, to call the matter of ghosts and exorcisms a matter of spirituality is odd.
Ghosts are matter of psychology , parapsychology, not spirituality and no major religion will encourage its flock to believe in the objective reality of ghosts.
Would be interesting to know what "logical" explanation there is then for the workman here yesterday telling me how his bed gets turned down ready for him at night in his centuries old house - except he hasn't been the person doing it. He said it doesnt bother him personally and he just accepts that's how it is - but it would bother a lot of people (including me)....

I saw a ghost two nights ago. I was awakened from sleep and saw a shadowy male figure at the foot of my bed. Then I woke up completely and the ghost was gone.
Was he the Bishop of Monmouth , whose article may be Googled
Witzend, what was the name of your brother'school?
What year did the paranormal events and the exocism by the bishop happen?
This story would make headlines at least in the local newspaper.
Cariad Again, I am glad to hear the old Welsh bardic tradition is still well alive.
Witzend wrote: "-----He and his friends who’d messed with the ouija board were given a very stern talking to."
Intriguing! I wonder what they said to the boys during the talking to. Is there any chance your brother might remember?
Witzend I don't scoff. Your story is especially interesting on several counts, and I always find paranormal events interesting. Don't you agree scepticism is good?
My theory is that people don't as a rule tell lies, so there is something actually going on.

My only ghostly experience was after an emergency cesarean section. Husband was with us until the evening and when he left I suddenly became aware of a white figure at the side of the bed but slightly behind me. If I turned my head the figure moved back. I felt it was my late father but didn't say anything as I thought the midwives might think I was mentally ill.
The following morning he was still there. Just after my husband came the baby started to have difficulty breathing. I rang the bell and baby was immediately rushed off. She had her stomach washed out as they said she'd swallowed some of her own poo when she was distressed during labour and it was coming up and choking her.
The white figure stayed with us and then left in the night.
I don't really believe in ghosts but at the same time I believe my dad was there watching over my baby. Maybe he was ready to take her if the worst happened.
It is strange to hold two such contrary beliefs at the same time.
Yep...perfectly prepared to believe you on that. Your father would be a very logical/appropriate person to be there - a. Looking out for you and your welfare and b. Just-in-case someone was needed to take your baby "home" if things had gone wrong.

When I die, I really don't want to be hanging around. I wonder why these souls can't or won't cross over. It all seems a bit sad. I hope your friends can help them to find peace.
Me neither - I'm not planning on "hanging around" either when I die. I'll be off like a shot - heading for "better realms" and heaving a huge sigh of relief to be free from living on Earth. My mind will be set more on reuniting with old friends that went before/getting out the virtual champagne (and thinking "Thank goodness I'm not concerned this drink might give me acid reflux or the need for a nap") and celebrating being free at last....Much more a case of "I've had the Life Review...reunited with friends...now I'm going to have a big party and then start exploring Heaven/ Way-hey....thank goodness".
The thought has crossed my mind a couple of times of "Maybe I should hang around long enough to see if I could help deal with bad people that have hurt me and ensure a bit or retributive justice - and then move on ...". But, basically, I think "Karma will deal with them - and I don't have to.....so move on to a better place".What if you find yourself headed for the other place tho?😲😬
Who can say they will find themselves in Heaven?

LOL not a thing to worry about for a normal decent person - anyplace worse will likely be overcrowded already (given what a high percentage of people leave a lot to be desired - through from minor crimes to being downright evil).
Back-up plan in case of a mistake = ask for help quick to get to rightful destination.
